Had designed things in a way that the Ranged Fighter would finally have a chance to shine.

Instead, the Warlock and the Mystic found a most broken combo : Hunger of Hadar followed by Whirlwind.

Although, looking up the Mystic part of the combo and therefore looking at the players sheet in detail, I realize I really do not get just yet how the Mystic works...

This basically means, Warlock placed the Hadar sphere with around half their enemies inside, followed by the Mystic using Whirlwind on the other half... I think by the end only 1 or 2 enemies were not in the Hadar sphere...

Guess I'll need to use more spellcasters from time to time...

I wish I could get players to show that kind of teamwork. My players always feel like a bunch of strangers that have never fought together.

Dude, they have access to level 7 spells, yeah things get broken.

What level 7 spell? Hunger of Hadar is level 3, the other thing is the Mystic's Mastery of Weather's Whirlwind which is 2 psi points. (meaning if they choose the discipline they can use it at level 1)

Todays session was cancelled, so the next part will not be till next week.

The next part is basically more of the same, but a higher CR and a more defend-able position.
And since they let one guy go, who they can follow with Mystic powers, with the intention of following him sometime after their short rest, meaning everyone at the fortification is going to know they are coming...

And I know what you are gonna say, a wooden cabin with wooden fortifications? They're going to Fireball the shit out if it and yes they might, if they want to risk the hostage...
