I hate getting rid of decent consoles and games, but I was reorganizing some stuff today and realized I only have like four GameCube games anymore, so I'm not sure if it's worth keeping. I don't really love any of them and I don't have the same kind of nostalgic attachment to it I do for N64 and earlier. It seems like most of the essential games are on newer consoles anyway, like the WW/TP remasters. Metroid Prime Trilogy and Pikmin 1 and 2 are available on Wii, though I don't know if those are the better versions. I still have my copy of RE4, but that's been put on virtually every newer console since then.

Mario Sunshine hasn't been re-released, but fuck that game. The biggest loss would be Melee, but I don't even own that anymore and I probably wouldn't get it even if I do keep the GameCube.

They had some show on G4 where they were seeing which console was the strongest between the original xbox, ps2 and gamecube. The gamecube won by a lot, they hit it with a sledgehammer and it still worked.

No. Actually, after I made the topic I looked at the top ten GC games on GameFAQs and that's like the one I still want to play that isn't available on anything else. But I think I can live without it (or just... you know).

I know everyone seems to hate the Wii U, but it's much more useful than the GameCube imo. More compatible with modern TVs, can play Wii games, and has Virtual Console. Of course, the actual Wii U lineup is pretty weak, but aside from BotW, MK8 and Pokken Tournament being on Switch, it hasn't been replaced as thoroughly as the GameCube's lineup yet.

I can't imagine ever getting rid of mine. Even if I somehow lost almost all of my games, I'd just buy new games. Hell, last year I bought more controllers for it and I haven't played multi in years.

Granted, I know that most (if not all) gc games are compatible with my wii, but I have that boss Shadow Lugia faceplate on my system.

That could be said of every console I own. There are tons of hidden gems I haven't played and probably will never play, and that's okay with me. I still have a long way to go on covering the popular games, and since that's a very small amount which are GC-exclusive anymore, it doesn't make much sense to me to hold on to the console.

I'm also still holding out hope that they'll do GameCube VC on the Switch. Remember when those were big rumors before everyone started to think there will be no VC at all? But VC has to be coming, and I think there's a good chance it will have GameCube games. Maybe Wii too considering the Joycons operate similar to Wiimote and Nunchuk for motion controls.

I actually have ttyd. Great game. I haven't played by actual gamecube in years. I just...you know... find a work around

You should keep every console you own, unless you need to sell them to feed your starving children and/or pets.

That's more than I've used the console in the past 3 years, tbh. Granted, I've used my actual gc instead.

Me too, but nowadays they go for like twice the price of the actual GC itself. Just not worth it to me, especially with a decent amount of GBA games being on Wii U VC.

Damn, looking at your Backloggery is eye-opening. I always knew you had a lot of games, but I didn't know you had so few unbeaten. You have more than three times as many games as me on there, but I have beaten about 30 more.

I have a lot more unbeaten that just haven't been added. Keeping up with my Steam crap was impossible (some keep having name changes, others will quietly add extra games to my account, some quietly do the reverse) and since I couldn't just mass remove the Steam stuff from my old account (http://backloggery.com/DeltaBladeX), I've instead slowly been adding games to a new account. It still lacks most of my PS3 stuff, all of my PS2 and PS1 stuff and a number of other systems.

Plus Steam, obviously. Beaten maybe 250 games there.

Edit - Oh yeah, a break in also resulted in me no longer having a good number of the games listed on my old account. Can't forget that. :P

Cube controllers on Switch probably means I can get rid of this. But I think I'll wait until I play Metroid Prime first, which I've owned for a while but never touched

I sold mine on eBay for like $60. Haha.

I don't get rid of consoles, but I don't think I have touched it in like 3 years. Last game I played on it was Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles, and after like an hour of playing it I didn't care to go back. I have like 15 - 20 games on it, but I think the only ones I own that I haven't beaten yet are FFCC and some random NASCAR game I got because it was included in a PS2 game bundle I got in an auction. I have never even touched the NASCAR game.

Now I don't know whether or not I should keep the controllers if I sell it. Though honestly, I can probably just use the regular Switch controllers for anything on Switch. The only thing would suck is if they require GC controllers for some games, or map the GC's ABXY to the Switch's ABXY and don't let you change it for potential VC.

It'll be ages before I get around to Metroid Prime anyway, so I'm sure at that point we'll have more info
