The family of a 20 y/o girl who was KILLED by her boyfriend who then took his own life say they DON'T blame him for her death because they believe they got Lost while hiking in Joshua Tree and he murdered her and killed himself because they believed they had no chance of survival!!

It was revealed that 20 y/ Rachel Nguyen and her boyfriend, Joseph Orbeso died in a murder suicide in the California hiking spot as their bodies were found locked in an embrace on October 15th, 3 months after they went hiking for her birthday on July 28th but go lost and found themselves stranded with no food or water

Joseph first shot Rachel and then killed himself as her family insists they are not suspicious of his motives and believe it was a "mercy killing" and do not blame him and were grateful their bodies were found.

The Nguyen family said "We hold no grudges against Joseph or the Orbeso family. We don't blame him for what they did...We thank God that we'll be able to give Rachel a proper burial and lay her to rest"

Police have not revealed where they died nor whose gun it was that was used as they were visiting the Joshua Tree National Park to celebrate Rachel's birthday.

Joseph was a security guard at a Long Beach Golf Course and was "in very good shape, always carries knives when hiking and is a survivalist"

A concerned bed and breakfast owner contacted authorities when they didn't return as their Lexus was found near the Maze Loop. A ping was found on Joseph's cellphone as temperatures topped 100 degrees when they went missing.

A massive search and rescue effort of 250 team members then took place combing for clues in the 791,000 acres of land.

After searching for more than a week on foot, horseback and on air as the search was scaled back..

A Park ranger finally found their bodies at a remote part of the park with clothing near a wash and a trail of water bottles and food wrappers lead to their bodies...

Do you actually believe this was a "mercy" killing because they believed they had no hope of survival??

This. Something odd about the whole thing to get that lost.

It sounds like they were clearly casual hikers and they went hiking during one the hottest summers on record..
What's odd, is he brought a handgun.. but not other emergency supplies; like a signal-flare gun or even the basics for lighting a signal fire before resorting to a mercy killing.

Pretty sure most hikers don't take a massive amount of gear with them (well, the hardcore ones probably do...). And, if you have a CCW, you're probably used to just taking your gun with you everywhere. If you're a casual hiker worried about animals or deranged backwoods Deliverance people, you'd probably feel safer with the gun anyway.

And, if it was a murder-suicide, he picked a weird way to do it. First, their relationship had to be good enough that she'd go on a trip. Then they booked a bed & breakfast. Finally, they took water and food and hiked a pretty long ways. If you're going to murder-suicide, you can do it *without* that much travel or effort.

I've been through that trail, there's no Deliverance people. This is Southern California, the summer heat is really the only foe.

I guess it depends how long they were lost. If you imagine them being lost for an hour and giving up, that's ridiculous, but maybe they were wandering lost for 2 or more days and were slowly dying horrible deaths.
