His name was Chai. Trained Muay Thai with him daily while I lived in Chiang Mai. Kid had great potential as a fighter, was so calm and composed in the ring for someone his age (though he first started fighting when he was 13). Really nice guy as well, always joking around with everyone.
He was a good swimmer as well. Everyone from the gym use to go to a place called Chiang Mai canyon to cliff dive. Jump from 40+ feet. Never seen him struggle. It just really shows how dangerous water can be, especially during rainy season. I'm not sure exactly what how it happened but they found his body down river almost a day later. I went to the waterfall that it happened at numerous times and never felt unsafe swimming there but then again I never went in the rainy season.
