1700 calories a day
Be more active

That's it.

No worrying about carbs, protein, where I'm getting my calories from, how many meals a day I eat, none of that shit. I don't give a fuck if I get my 1700 calories from one meal a day at a fast food place. As long as I get no more than 1700 calories a day and be more active, I'm good. Whether that's from cardio or lifting. I'll just do whatever I feel like that day. Goal is to lose a pound a week.

Gotta stop complicating shit.

Fun fact: talking about your plans to change/improve actually makes you less likely to follow through because it provides a false sense of accomplishment

Sugar is your enemy. Cut out sugar, drink a lot more water. This step alone will make a tremendous difference regardless of calorie count.

Also, tackling things like this by jumping in the deep end is a good way to crash and burn. You'd do better starting by recording what foods you're eating and then cutting things out of your diet, like sweets and soda.

It also helps to do this with someone else, or, at least, keeping track of your progress in a journal or something.

The science of motivation is interesting. You should look some stuff up to help you be successful

Lol. No. It makes a difference because you're drinking more 0 calorie water instead of 200+ calorie soda/juice.

I've seen people have drastic results from the keto diet.

One piece of advice though (take it or leave it) if you want to lose weight, consume your carbs in the morning so you'll burn them off throughout the day and make sure you get your proteins and veggies at dinner to help repair and replenish proteins and vitamins. If I want to cut up that's literally all I worry about (and exercise ofc), I don't even pay attention to calories.

Oh and drink 80+ oz of water every single day, especially if you're lifting.

I'm not even going to begin with how stupid this comment is, go do some research. Start with the Keto process and how sugar effects your entire system and weight loss. It's not simply "calories" lol.

There is soooo much truth in this, and not just with dieting.

Tricking your body into thinking it's starving is not a standard diet technique. It isn't even needed. Some people just prefer the options available to them when inducing ketoacidosis

See this is where I would read too much into what you guys are saying(not that it's not appreciated!) and complicate things and confuse myself, which would eventually lead to me giving up.

I know sugar is bad, I've been on keto, I've tried all that. But I love me some carbs. I'm already going to be restricting myself, no need to overdo it right away. Just stick with 1700 calories a day and exercise. First micro goal is get under 300lbs.
