Cybernetics and genetic engineering.

Basically anything that can give me a new pancreas. AI for the wider implications, though. Even though the 'AI effect' is in strong swing with that and it's pretty much impossible to define anyway.

I think that if we have learned one lesson from all of Star Trek, ever, it's that even a perfectly designed, highly functional holodeck requires a sacrifice of at least one ensign ranked person or higher a year.
