Worked in the uppity sister town and sometimes youd get some real entitled fucks that came in here.

This broken down piece of shit in his late 40s looked 60 came in the store with an attitude for no real reason, anyway I need to help him return something so I ring up his return. The refund amount is like 44 cents on a 1 dollar item. He says all snarky I paid like 5 dollars for that item. I tell him it was 1 dollar and he used some coupons that made it 44 cents. As Im grabbing his receipt which literally shows what he paid and the refunded amount he immediately starts mouthing off you arent gonna listen to what Im saying can I have a manager, can I have manager can I talk to a manager just talking over me and being a prick, but Im still calm and pass it off to my manager. Talking with my manager hes still mouthing off and talking about me in this ridiculously condescending tone and at that point I had enough and told him not to disrespect me.

He immediately started to try to pull his but- but Im the customer you must bow to me bullshit and I started going at him and then my manager and other employee tried to get me to the back but I wasnt by having it.

I then quickly reminded the customer Im making barely livable wages and this job meant fuck all to me, then noticed his face tightened up and he started looking away from me... I finally go into the office and hear him telling the manager I threatened him and hes gonna call the police if I connect out the office. I then open the door and start shouting at him because hes a complete pussy and thats total bullshit.

He leaves with his panties wet and piss down his leg and my manager comes to talk to me. Obviously we didnt agree with what happened and I decided to leave.

DUdes a complete rat and hell if Ill deal with husband likes for this byllshit money. Ive worked for twice the pay and didnt have to take that bullshit. Let alone have my bosses in my ear telling me to suck some more dick so they dont get in trouble by the big bad corporate heads.

I havent been working there for 6 months...

I think that is a requirement

I'll have a job that pays me double by tomorrow evening.. and even though the job itself absolutely sucks this one wasnt much better and paid like a joke

The most rewarding thing in life is mouthing off an asshole customer, sometimes. They just dont expect it. I had one guy who obviously wanted to punch me, so I said do it, big guy, then all these witnesses can help me sue you into bankruptcy while youre on your way to prison. He stood around for like 5 minutes and I was like you staying until I call the cops or something? Im not helping you. Just go.

I totally thought I was going to get my ass kicked lol

Edit: I cant remember how it got to that point, but it probably involved him wanting a refund he wasnt entitled to... he got pissed off fast though.

I really, really, REALLY hate people who pull crap like this. Perfect example of old lady entitlement (yes I know it was actually an old man)

While I don't agree with what you did by going over board I would definitely understand your side and not fire you. Did you get fired or just quit? If it's the latter than I have no idea why you did that because those types of people will follow you no matter wherever you work

Really think you over reacted by quitting, especially if you only worked there 2 weeks, Pretty sure everybody understood your frustration and coworkers and recognize you as a hero

tbh, back when I worked retail, we actually had a guy call the cops on an employee and claim that the employee had threatened him and mentioned having a gun in his car. When no gun was found, the employee declined to press charges because he figured the guy would get a slap on the wrist and he'd waste a day in court.

Probably not.

Although I have about 4 years of customer service and retail experience and that was one of two incidents Ive had ever with customers.

The first one was some uppity lady 5 years back that got her vag hurt because I pointed out it was an express line when she had like 50 items and I was behind her off the clock with a soda.

Ive worked in phone sales and supermarkets with irate customers and real psychos for years.

The problem was this guys voice wasnt angry or frustrated, it was condescending and belittling.

Its like when Chappells quit Chappelles show because he did a sketch and in the middle of satirizing black people he heard someone laugh in a way that he felt he was being laughed at rather than laughed with.

It was that kinda deal and maybe it was missed in the moment if you werent in my sneakers but his tone, body language and general demeanor was acting like he was a king and I was his jester or slave.

The fact that he threatened to call the police just because I was angry pretty much reinforces that feeling, its like Im sort of caricature and hes like omg scary young minority the police will save me.

Oh and to the other guy I didnt yell at him before he mentioned calling the cops that wasnt after.

Honestly this is the 2nd incident in less than a month of an older white guy expecting a private handjob along with basic customer service, and Ive also never been at a service job that was so utterly irreverent of their employees in situations like this.

They are the type to basically go yeah bad employee! Bad! Go! Stay!l in front of the customer so they can avoid complaints to the office. And this was reflected in so many other ways. We were coached to change prices if a customer complains its the wrong price without asking questions or double checking anything, we priced matched stores we dont even actually price matched if a customer whines enough.

It was just so toxic. It reminds me of that episode with Spongebob taking care of Squidward when he loses his job. First hes helping a friend, but because he never sets any boundaries Squidward basically makes him his maid.

Also it definitely shows when your efforts to give top of the line customer service are entirely contrived out of fear or obligation rather than sincere and genuine.

Ive always operated with the latter not the former.
