Another day, another bit of drama involving the Fast & Furious movie franchise. Tyrese Gibson, who has starred as Roman Pearce in five of the eight movies released thus far, is threatening to quit Fast & Furious 9.

His ultimatum is simple: If Dwayne Johnson is in it, he wants out. It's the latest in a long one-sided war of Instagram posts between the two actors, which stems back to Gibson's anger over Johnson and co-star Jason Statham getting a spin-off movie. That project, Hobbs & Shaw, pushed back the release of Fast & Furious 9 by a year, which Tyrese wasn't pleased about.

Now, in his newest rant about Johnson, which is riddled with spelling and grammatical errors, Gibson says, "I'm sorry to announce that if Dewayne is in Fast9 there will no more Roman Peirce." Accompanying the threat is a photo of the actor, alongside Johnson and Vin Diesel. "You mess with family and my daughters survival I mess with yours," he continues.



He also seemingly alleges that Johnson takes steroids, writing, "folks that GP to the gym and get big naturally #NoJuice #NoOJ spin off huh?" Naturally, Johnson has yet to respond to this or any other shot Gibson has sent his way over the last several months.

Regardless of how much Gibson complains about it, there's no stopping this franchise. As Hobbs & Shaw is looking for a director, with Iron Man 3 helmer Shane Black reportedly in the running, Fast & Furious 9 is moving full-steam ahead. Diesel announced on Facebook that Justin Lin would return to direct the next two films, while also announcing the return of Jordana Brewster to the franchise as Mia Toretto.

In the end, when it comes down to it, it's hard to believe that Gibson would call it quits on the profitable franchise over a squabble with a fellow actor--the latter of whom may not even realize it's happening. That said, unless this is all one very bad marketing idea or manages to get settled before it goes too far, things are going to be very awkward on the set of the next movie once it goes into production.

The ninth Fast & Furious movie will arrive on April 10, 2020--almost a year after the spinoff starring Johnson and Statham premieres on July 26, 2019.

Yeah, I like him as an actor, and I like the character Pearce, but he's out of his mind if he thinks he has any sort of legitimate box office draw. The Rock might've been late to the game in terms of becoming a character in the films, but he's a part of them now, and he's popular and pretty much critical to the plot, although they could always write him out.

Tyrese should realize that Johnson makes him money, even if there's a delay in filming, the film will likely generate more revenue with Dwayne in it than without. Not sure how Gibson's contract is set up, but I'd assume a long-running character like his, and an actor of his standing, would have some sort of piece of the back end. Maybe not, though.

Given that the Rock is a bigger draw, it's not much of a threat. In order of importance, Vin Diesel was bigger than Paul Walker and the rest don't matter much in terms of the franchise. The Rock, however, is a major name so he helps whatever he's in.

Tyrese Gibson -- whose character I like more than the Rock's -- doesn't bring a ton to the table (which is why he hasn't had a career anything like the Rock's). Don't get me wrong, I like Gibson -- he was great in Baby Boy, which was probably his only true outstanding performance -- but he's the kind of guy you see in films without taking much notice of him when he's not a main character. For instance, I don't remember him from TF2 or 3 (still need to see 1). Granted, he *was* a main character in Legion and I'm just drawing a blank on that.

What does Somoan have to do with anything? Second, and more importantly, keep in mind that the Rock was play-fighting in the WWE just like he play-fights in film. Other than an amateur wrestling background, there's no indication he'd be much good in a fight (as opposed to other pro wrestlers who either used to work security or routinely were arrested for bar room brawls or have a MMA background)

I would be pretty shocked if he never used any kind of enhancement substance over his life. In fact, I think anybody with some common sense would be pretty shocked to hear that. Have you ever been to a gym? People who are "all natty" do not look like Terry Crews.

Oh, and The Rock is clearly on the juice. Do you think he just magically doubled in size after his wrestling career by working out? Heck, he couldn't even work out hard enough to get rid of his breasts.

Even Vin Diesel is mad at The Rock for him coming in and acting like it's his franchise now and being a diva on set. And now The Rock is getting a spinoff movie and it's going to set back production of the main series, so I get it where Tyrese is coming from.

But, like others said, The Rock is making Tyrese a lot of money so he should probably calm down and not issue ultimatums if he values his career, because everyone knows they're not picking Tyrese over The Rock.

And all arguments of "can they fight" kind of go right out the window when someone is 300 pounds of solid muscle. What would Tyrese do really? Try and kick The Rock in the balls and try and joint lock someone twice his size? WWE may have been "play fighting" and all, but what are you really going to do if someone The Rock's size actually gets his hands on you? Tyrese isn't exactly an MMA fighter either, and in a straight up brawl situation, I'm giving The Rock the benefit of the doubt for advantage by far.

Right, I can't inject steroids and automatically grow 300 lbs of muscle, it still takes a lot of work at the gym. All steroids does is make it happen in a few months rather then a few years.

Hahahaha did not expect video evidence to back that up lol but I don't think people realize a lot of the wrestling moves are pretty dang painful. The people on the WWW have a really high pain tolerance and get actually hurt a lot more then people realize. They have to pull punches and specifical hit moves in specific ways as to cause as little damage as possible. Yeah it's fake as in following a storyline and mostly choreographed fights. But the moves and pain are real.
