Suppose it's great if you like movies due to the perks. Applied for some myself as they pop up frequently.

In the US it is one of the lowest tier jobs you can get

They pay minimum wage and most of the work force is under the age of 18. You get free movies though which is great. I actually met my now wife working at the theater as a teenager.

I worked at both over the years, I definetly thought walmart was the better job

I was always able to get hours at walmart, at the theater if big movies weren't coming out it was hard to stay on the schedule. Walmart also had better benefits and I didn't go home smelling like popcorn most days. Still though free movies is fun.

walmart has gotten really skeevy in the last year or so, they went through a bunch of restructuring that basically makes it so they can pay as few people as possible. my job is primarily customer service but lately they have been deputizing me as a stocker (which i don't mind much) and also as a backroom worker (which i really would rather not do for multiple reasons). not only that but my hours seem contingent on how willing i am to do those things.

it really isn't what i signed up for so i need to find something else. i only went back there because the shoe store wasted my time and they were having a job fair anyway :/ and i guess it's nice that it's only a 5 minute walk from my house

In Canada, Walmart is actually a pretty fair employer from what Ive heard. They give you health/dental benefits, annual bonuses, and contribute to a retirement mutual fund based on a percentage of your income even if youre at the bottom.

I laughed my ass off when that one in Quebec boasted about unionizing their Walmart and then it got shut down a couple of weeks later and they all got laid off.

It's definitely lower-tier, but there are like a million fast food places which are far worse and then there are a lot of shit-paying jobs with no perks.

Still sounds better than a lot of the retail jobs I worked as a kid. Granted, if your employer hadn't shorted you almost a thousand dollars over the course of a year, it'd be far better than one place I worked.

Ive also heard Costco is the best retailer to work for, period.

It possibly is, since they have a better starting pay and nicer benefits. However, it's not so much a retailer as it is the counter-sales operation for a wholesale distributor and, by that standards, the benefits are actually a bit worse in many cases.

At least if you get the job we never have to see another one of your shit tier soda subscription topics again. Hell, you should have put me down as a reference, I would have given you a glowing review.

I dunno, access to buckets of soda maybe?you can't possibly be as obtuse as you pretend to be half the time chewy.

yeah, i interviewed at a shoe store and got the job, but they were gonna give me literally like 8 hours a week to start. that's not nearly enough, it would barely cover the cost of bus fare to commute out there. the walmart 2 blocks from my home had a hiring fair so i got hired back on the spot

i suppose i figured it would be temporary, but the job was fine and i was getting enough hours for the first couple of months so i settled in. now they pretty much suck

I worked at one, it isn't bad. Basically you have two options - cooking the food or cleaning the theaters. The one I worked at had very mild "security" which was the same as people who cleaned besides getting a dollar more an hour, they just got to seat theaters for larger movies that had assigned seating.

It's a very, very laid back environment but will more than likely be min wage.

How easy is it to sneak in (to other movies) based off your experience?

Depends on how you're planning on getting in.

If you buy a ticket and just go to another movie after, then most people won't notice unless it's a busy/popular movie where they'll check your ticket in case there's assigned seating. I caught people a few times but only gave them shit if they were being obnoxious about it.

Sneaking someone in by using the side or back door usually won't go well unless it's an older theater. We had our side doors set up so a buzzer noise would go off in the managers office and all computer screens would switch to the corresponding camera whenever they'd open.
