I probably won't. It takes me way too long to be done with a game for this to be worthwhile for me. I don't think I've even beat a newly purchased game since, uh, Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia.

ETA: Actually, wait, no, I think I've beaten BlazBlue: Central Fiction with Ragna once. Actually, I've beaten some other newly purchased fighting games, as well.

Last I heard Gamefly is moving towards streaming games. Whereas Gamestop seems like they are trying to increase traffic to their dead stores and monetize their truckloads of unwanted secondhand games.

gamestop where I live does allright. for all the hate the place seems to get I don't see any signs of them slowing down to any of the places i've been. though when I did visit my best friend in chattanooga though. I did notice there was more small time game shops though. but the small time ones around here shut down but due to being robbed too much.

I like the idea of keeping a 50 plus dollar game at the end of your subscription plan but then I think about how much that game will actually be after 6 months.

Having worked at a GameStop for years and years, I'd say the average $55 pre-owned Game becomes about 24 to $34 after 6 months of being on the shelves.

Looking at the subscription plan it looks like it's going to be 60 bucks for 6 months and you get to play as many games as you want and then keep the game at the end.

So if you're keeping a then $55 pre-owned game that is now $24 after 6 months I feel that GameStop makes a significant profit off of you over a period of time. Not to mention if you're accidentally keeping a $12 pre-owned game at the end of your $60 subscription period.

Am I wrong? Am I overthinking this a bit?

But youre not just paying for the game at the end, youre paying for the actual rental. So lets say you play a different game for a month for six months, youve played six games, 10$ a month, then on top of that you get to keep one of the games bringing your 60$ total to 20 or 30 or 40 dollars at the end.

GameStop will obviously make a profit, thats the point, but I still think its a good deal as long as you actually use it and rent and play games

I suppose. I'm just thinking of the profit GameStop makes because I only see them making a profit off of what you keep at the end.

At the same time some games, such as Nintendo games, don't lose their value.

No. I'm not gonna pay to have to drive down to a GameStop and rent scratched up discs.

Plus I feel like GameStop is a company that should probably go away.

I don't want gamestop going away. my only options for games then would be walmart or online. and i've never cared for ordering games off the internet as well not super common mail gets delivered to the wrong address around here often enough i'd be worried about it.

This guy does a decent job explaining how this service worked out in test areas and why it ended up cannibalizing store revenue. In my opinion they are doing this to appease shareholders in the short term because the end is in sight now for GameStop at least for the brick and mortar level of the company.
