She is in China and was at the airport just arrived. She was looking for her guide when some guys grabbed her arm. She didn't say what she did but she got away. Wtf

My mom just told me about it.

Her idea. She wanted to do it by herself. We just talked to her on video chat. I guess maybe it wasn't as sinister maybe as we thought. Not sure. But she says the guys were asking her what country she was from and wanted her to go in a taxi. Maybe they were just trying to hit on her. But she turned around and walked away saying she doesn't speak Chinese and then they backed off. Still scary but not as bad as I first envisioned it

Shouldn't you be there too? I'm sure the hotels have double beds.

It is bad but the way she described it later made it sound not as bad as when my mom first told me. Still not a good thing to happen. But when I first heard it it sounded more brazen. They may not have actually been planning to take her against her will. But I don't know

They must've been after someone else, those people could've been triads or some other gang looking for some girl that wronged one of their members.

There is also gangs out there that force girls into the sex trade. International airports are one of the most common places to kidnap these people

Cab drivers in some of these places can be pushy plus there are *tons* of drivers who extort tourists by driving them someplace and threatening to ditch them. I'm not sure that China is as big on straight up kidnapping as a lot of other countries, though.

part of me kinda is hoping she doesn't find them. not for that reason that you said, but for something like in an episode of House I saw once, where a chinese girl found her parents and they didn't have a good reason why they abandoned her. she confronted them, and they basically said "we just didn't want you"

I kinda think maybe a little brother was born and that was still under the One Child rule so they got rid of her to keep the son instead. I think she would be very mad if she found out that happened.

actually....not quite. her mom abandoned her in a park. they didn't hand her over to an orphanage. she remembers her mom taking her to a park and telling her to just stay there. she then ran after her mom to try to get to her, and was hit by a car and a cop took her to a hospital and then later to the orphanage. she has remet with that same cop if I remember right. but he doesn't know who her mom is.
