I've read that being a teacher in America can feel like a bit of a slog where you don't get paid that well, you work silly hours, you're never appreciated by "clients" and your administration doesn't have your back. I.e. the only reason someone becomes a teacher is because they want to sacrifice themselves to help others. Pay could be better (says everyone) but I'm not complaining, I do alright, plus my husband earns enough that I could probably stop working, but I don't want to. I work some pretty strange hours, but teaching isn't my whole life. Most of my students are pretty respectful towards me and some are openly friendly, some parents can be a bit of a struggle to deal with but it's the kids I care about, so they can moan all they want.
