It can have benefits and be a beautiful experience, but it's not a necessity for fulfillment and success in today's times. It's not (and really never was) a one-size-fits-all solution to all of life's woes. And not everyone who chooses to veer away from marriage are unattractive dysfunctional losers who couldn't make it happen anyway. Quite a few people disinterested in marriage today are not seeking a spouse because their lives already feel fulfilling enough that they're not compelled to enter an arrangement like that. For whatever reasons to them, getting married would be a step down...not up. Some of these people have noteworthy attractiveness with considerable status making them very sought after; yet they continue to dodge ever getting hitched because they don't see a vital need for it.

Mainstream American culture is already demonstrating the phenomena with the notable decline in 20 somethings rushing to find brides and grooms. It's easy to give examples of eligible men opting away from the idea of marriage (thanks to other modern means of fulfillment), but the numbers of young women doing the same is also on a slower increase. Today American women are more often the actual pushers for marriage in the US and even many of them give up on or reserve it to a low priority, sometimes because it's just less of a hassle nailing down a stable attractive guy for a more casual relationship.

Put plainly: marriage isn't what it used to be. And public interest reflects that.
