for a gaming message board? I don't think if people complained on this site EA would have responded like the damage control they did on reddit. That reddit response was later picked up by the news and on front page of other sites like imgur.

They only changed the amount of credits you earn upon completion of the single player campaign. They only ever wanted you to gain enough credits to unlock the lowest level hero, which is the main protagonist for the single player game.

But this site doesn't even have as much people browsing as any of the niche subreddit. r/gaming generally has 40,000 people active at any given time. This site has 2,500 during peak hours. 900 during early morning on east coast.

This why the hell would they post on these gaming boards. The topics rarely get more than 10 posts. The Star Wars Battlefront boards here are so dead. Topics on reddit regularly get 5,000-10,000 posts if they hit the front page.

I myself go to reddit for my gaming news. I usually get the news there 6 hours to a couple of days before the gaming boards here.

Lowered the rewards? Meaning it won't take a 40 hour grind or $30 to unlock Vader?

Hey - that's something! I'm so surprised that this happened. Now, if gamers could organize their efforts to communicate with publishers in an appropriate way, this is a sign that they will listen.

Yeah, it costs less to get things, but they lowered the rewards they gave as well in similar manner so still being shitty as ever.

Then coupled with removing the ability to easily cancel your order, shows they are still determined to fuck people over through all this.

Pre-backlash, high-tier heroes cost 60k to unlock, mid-tier cost 40k, and low tier cost 20k. Upon completion of the SP campaign, you got a loot chest reward. One of the pieces of the reward was a one-time allocation of 20k credits. Post-backlash, the costs to unlock heroes were cut by 75%, but so was that final reward from the SP campaign. This means that the credit reward was only ever meant to unlock the low-tier hero of your choice, which I believe was only the protag from the SP campaign.

Now, it will take you less time to unlock the other heroes, but we run into a problem here - namely the fact that progression rewards and hero unlocks share the same currency. So, you have to make a conscientious choice: Do you buy star cards to make your current roster of playable characters better, or do you go for the unlockable characters? It takes less time to get the characters, but the progression system remains the same. It's pretty shitty.

I wouldn't be so quick to celebrate. There's a growing number of people who believe that EA intentionally introduced so shitty a service, then dialed it back to what they projected their final game to look like, just so it would make outrage more muted and make it an easier pill to swallow. I mean, if you're being kicked in the nuts with a steel-toed boot by an army vet, getting a small punch from a 5 year old doesn't hurt nearly as much.

They're going to get ripped to shreds despite the cost to unlock shit being way out of their hands.

From my understanding they did an awesome job developing it but EA went full EA.

No. Vader - or any hero - doesn't cost any actual money to unlock. What it costs is a time investment to earn credits to purchase it, or a bunch of loot boxes with duplicate cards in it. Duplicates give you credits (not the crafting parts that were initially promised, butletsnottalkaboutthatatallrightEA?), which you can use to funnel back into loot crates, or to unlock new heroes.

already addressed in this topic and been pointed out that they only ever wanted to give you enough to unlock the main character
you either take Alucard's stance and say that it's to start the addiction and train you to use credits, or you go the other way and say that it's because they didn't want to lock multiplayer content behind singleplayer

It was Troy Baker, and he didn't get banned, just modded. Still, that was pretty shitty.

As for the larger point, yeah, Reddit has significantly more sway over the gaming industry than this site. Developers actually monitor and regularly post on subs, which does not happen here. Reddit even has more control over this site than the GameFAQs users do, something we've seen a couple of times in the contests when they completely dominated the voting and chose the winner.
