Go back to the basics.

No emojis, no cussing, stricter ToU, KoS.

Get rid of Community boards as they are a failed project that split the community up and created unnecessary safe spaces.

Surprisingly little. For as much as people bitch about the mod staff, they're (for the most part) a fairly professional bunch and there are checks and balances in place to prevent much abuse. Sure, you can't get away with as much as you can on other sites, but in exchange this place also has WAY less mod abuse that sites like Reddit. If you want to be a shit, there's always the 'chans, but compared to the other large sites out there, Gamefaqs is by far the most stable and least likely to collapse under nepotistic mods.

The entire site needs a complete SEO overhaul, forget message board features.

Those won't bring in profits in any kind of predictable matter.

Bottom line should be improving total traffic and average pages per session.

deploy an aggressive advertising machine targeted at the bigger sites

even more invasive ads (visiting on a vanilla mobile browser hijacks and then melts your phone)

gamefaqs silver, gold and platinum (platinum users get mod rights)

pivot hard to video content instead of text-based guides

Advertise other boards on other boards.

Like, at the top of each board have a random board (changes on every reload) to a new area of gamefaqs that some may have missed.

Encourage people to congregate on 1 system board by placing links to alternate system versions of a game. (similar to split boards, but for multi-platform games)

In addition, create new "series boards" which combine all the topics from all games in "a series" (like all mario games) this way a fan of a series is alerted to all messages for his favorite series more easily.

Add an eSports news section, and make message boards for all of the popular eSports games out there.

Ever since Yahoo eSports got shut down there hasn't really been anything trying to take that mantle yet, and I think GameFAQs would be perfect for it. eSports is getting big enough that someone is going to fill that void soon though so we would have to act fast.

no more anonymous moderation. every deletion is given a public reason with the mod's name attached.

a real ask the moderator board. every mod gets a thread, where users can discuss recent actions between the two.

trolling and offensive much more harshly moderated. (and hopefully, much better defined)

no more alts. (maybe one)

suspends are by human, not by account. the first is for 3 days. each gets successively longer, up to 1 year. evading with another account is an automatic suspend. evading a year suspend resets your year.

Are there video guides available here, actual user created videos, not GameSpot content? Not sure about the copyright stuff but maybe allow users to upload videos for walkthrough guides. Anyone can record themselves playing now and it can be easier to follow than reading paragraphs of text.
