The events of the past month have gotten me to thinking about something that has hung like a black cloud over my life for many years. It goes away and then it comes back, like a disease that won't quit. I never did anything to deserve this.

Here's as short as I can make the story. There was a girl I rode the bus with in senior year of high school. I thought she was attractive so I talked to her, and we started chatting a lot on AIM and we hung out a couple times. Nothing ever happened.

I go away to college in another state, she becomes something completely out of my mind. I come back home during Thanksgiving break and on Black Friday, I go to Toys R Us. I see a girl that I knew working there so I walk towards her and I'm like "Hey, remember me?" and she full out slaps me across the face. I'm like what the fuck?

She says "You raped my friend!" I say "What the fuck are you talking about?" She's just in the middle of the store screaming about me raping this girl and my mind is swimming like I can't even believe this is happening, no I never raped anybody and I never touched her, I have no clue what's going on...

Then I start asking around and hearing this story she had about being raped, that there was some town event going on and she wandered off into the woods and when she came back she was all dazed and told people that I raped her in the forest! Well let alone that I was in another state in school at the time, no I would never fucking do anything like that!!

She never went to the cops or anything, just told her friends and let the rumor spread around town. I look at myself as a 31 year old virgin now and know that at least 2 relationships were ruined because of this. I went on dates with girls who liked me, and then when I tried to follow up, they told me their friends said they can't see me anymore because they heard I raped this girl.

I would tell my story and to an extent they believed me, like they will still talk to me today and they don't fear me or anything, but they just couldn't be associated with me. Their friends all consider me a rapist and that's all there is to it.

I have tried talking to this girl every way I can, asking why she would make up this story, even talking to her fiance, cousin, cousin's husband about it, and all she does is block me. She knows it's bullshit so she doesn't try to argue it, she just pushes me away.

Honestly I have full sympathy for people who have been raped or assaulted, and if anything these recent events have shown that we do have a rape culture and it's a really bad thing that needs to be fixed! Yet at the same time, what about people like me who have their lives ravaged by a complete fucking fabrication? I think this girl is an absolute monster for doing this to me. I don't deserve to live like this.

If you own your own home, check if your home insurance covers defamation, libel, or slander protection. If so, use that and go hire a lawyer.

Can probably file a lawsuit over things like that if you're inclined to follow up and get people to testify who were told by the person in question that she accused you of such a thing.

In the meantime, when the situation comes up you need to say you declined having sex with her because she has herpes. She's prob just making the story up because she's pissed.
