Corporate nutheads want their money, what you don't see is that they're actually sat at their table desperately discussing ways into making gamers the prime target of scum practices. The console developers, gaming companies. Where as previous decades gave us mainly single player experiences and great online multiplayer. Now it has gone way too far. You're console or game will barely function without messages even popping up asking you to "sign in" or "update" which if free is totally feasible but when your asked for money, don't have it. We need to make sure all this online revolution does not continue to do harm to our gaming experiences. I miss that day when I bought a game from a shop and it was complete. I put it in my console and had no issues such as giving more money. That however is choice.

-Lootboxes
-Day 1 Patches
-Microtransactions
-On disc DLC
-Online passes (Not Xbox live + PSN paid service) but additional online pass required for the game)
-Maintanence possibly stopping offline pay
-Online only games (although this is justifiable)

where is your money going? where is your money going?

Well for October NPD Assassins Creed Origins was the #2 game and it has microtransactions. Whereas Wolfenstein 2 doesn't have any and is a single player only game and was #14 on the list. Both released on the same day and gamers voted with their wallet.

They are both amazing games by the way.

The problem is that scummy anti-consumer practices are heavily rewarded. Why would they stop?

Nah microtransactions are really the only big problem. Everything else gives you what you pay for.

I don't see an issue with Day 1 patches... If anything it's a sign the company isn't just goofing around after shipping the game.

Same thing with maintenance - I've only ever seen that in MMOs anyway which are played on centralized servers where it's very inconvenient to let players play while the company applies updates and whatnot.
