I'd hope not. Cult leader responsible for the deaths of 7 people, including actress Sharon Tate in the late 1960's. One of the most famous and recognized crime stories in American history. It's the equivalent of knowing of Jack the Ripper and the Zodiac Killer.

oh no, what a tragedy!

It is a tragedy. Its a tragedy that a man of such intelligence and charisma did not better use his abilities for the betterment of society.

Why do people simply wish ill upon others rather than mourning the loss of potential and corruption of the soul?

Its sick, ill, and destructive.

What is there to say, he was one of the most infamous killers in history.

We knew his time was close at hand. Last I read of him (maybe 2015) he was pretty disheveled.

(Note:Duckbears topic was the first topic made on Manson, sorry TC)
(Bonus Fact:Ozzy Osbournes "Bloodbath in Paradise" was based on the Manson murders)

That would serve no purpose whatsoever.

American prisons fostering a stressed out environment in which prisoners live in constant fear of being sodomized, shanked, and murdered by each other serves no purpose other than creating broken people whom will have a difficult time readjusting to society, create criminals whom will be even more hardened, and likely become repeat offenders.

Rather prisons should focus on treating individuals with respect and dignity while teaching them practical skills in order to assimilate into and contribute to society upon release.

I agree with most things, but not murder. Murderers should not be able to continue to enjoy the life that they took away from someone else. It sickens me.

This is a very respectable post. He was an abhorrent piece of human garbage that doesn't deserve any sympathy for his actions, however the clearly had severe mental illness that's not really his or anyone else's fault. Again, it does not excuse what he did or make him deserving of any sympathy for his actions but it's sad to see anyone have that degree of mental illness. If there is an afterlife hopefully those evils have been removed from his proverbial soul or if there isn't anything after death at least he's no longer existing with those demons.

Hell unless you've been really living under a rock, the Manson murders were pretty common knowledge even in the days before the internet. It's like not knowing who Jack The Ripper and Ted Bundy were.

Manson was a full on sociopath. Read Manson The Life and Times of Charles Manson, it shows how even as young as 5 he had malevolent tendencies.

As for the he never killed anybody remark that's not really true either he killed Gary Hinman and Donald Shea in 1969 before and after the Tate-LaBianca murders respectively.

This...

To some extent he was able to do what the CIA could not do. Which is to brainwash people into doing a thing they wouldn't do, under the cloke of LSD. Which is a factor in this case, but probably overblown in reality.

Helter Skelter, and all that...all that.

His life sentence was serviced, and nothing was gained.
