movie was good as fuck. Why was everyone hating on it when it came out?

The length was great, twists were cool, and every single character was really entertaining. There wasn't a scene in that movie I didn't enjoy.

People were hating on it because it was more of a stage play as opposed to a "film". It felt exceptionally "Shakespearean" to me, and it was glorious!

I heard about the gimmick of the movie before watching it, and going in with that expectation, I was satisfied.

Thats why they hated on it? I thought it was themed so well.

A lot of people don't like a slower paced, slower moving film in just 2 locales.

but the props were fucking amazing in the 2nd location. The lighting with the candles was really fucking cool. When horse driver barged in and just ripped that bear hide off the wall and dove in front of the fireplace was really cool. It felt so lively.

You're preaching to the choir here. It's probably my favorite Tarantino film of all time.

it's my 2nd favorite next to reservoir dogs tbh. Reservoir dogs was another movie that was literally in one fucking location with people just talking. Fucking loved it.

It reminded me of that twilight zone episode with the aliens stuck in the hotel.

you didn't like the scene when samuel l jackson was arguing with the marauder dude in the carriage? It was like an entertaining history lesson of a very specific part of the civil war.

i also loved the very beginning where they tease the audience into thinking the guy in the carriage is some rich schmuck. The first thing you see of him is just his gun sticking out of the carriage. Even then you're not sure who he truly is. You get a good look at him and you see he's with a girl with a black guy. At this point you're probably like, "he's a rich dude who likes to beat his wife." But then interesting camaraderie between sam jackson and the dude finally reveals he's just a degenerate bounty hunter. Shit had had my attention the entire time.

Only thing I didn't like about it was the narrator. It was pretty jarring/immersion breaking when he starts chiming in with his not-even-western accent, was fucking weird

People hated it because of how slow it was. The general populace can't handle slow burns any more. It's why Blade Runner 2049 flopped, even though it was an outstanding movie. Apparently all America wants anymore is Michael Bay explosions.

My issue was that the second half of the movie didn't follow up with what the first half presented. The murder mystery turned into a bloodbath featuring characters I didn't even know existed until they showed up.

It's a good movie but it just isn't as me memorable as his other movies.
