So basically Desmond's sacrifice actually only delayed the end of the world.

The Isu knew/discovered that time is a linear continuity with nodes/choke points. Between the nodes you can have variations in what happens, but to pass through the node requires whatever event that needs to happen to actually happen. In this segment of time, that is the world ending.

All of the major events of the last ~100 years have been working towards this: The First and Second World Wars, the atomic bomb development, testing, and use, the Serpukhov-15 incident, etc

So basically the end of the world is coming again (somehow) and the only way to avoid it is to somehow figure out how to manipulate time so that the node can be bypassed >_> we might actually get a full-on modern-day game.

It's probably the biggest mistake in a successful product.

They're called "attractor fields" and you can get out of them by creating a significant enough variance on your world line, about a whole percentage point iirc.

I wish they had stuck with Black Flag's considerably more limited modern day storyline. Or taken it out entirely. Every time I think of picking up a new game in the series I remember there's going to be modern world stuff intruding on the better half of the plot, and end up playing something else instead.

I liked the modern day stuff throughout AC1-most of AC3. Once Desmond's ending hit though, they really ruined it beyond repair. Ironically that's when I started to dislike the series outside of BF.

Oh I forgot to mention it's strongly implied that some kind of time travel is going to be involved >_> probably related to the Piece of Eden that was used in the Philadelphia Experiment in that universe.

Well, the games have been getting closer and closer to present day with each installation, right? With the obvious exception of Origins. It was obvious a modern day Ass Creed would eventually happen since 2 came out.

Yeah, it'll just be weird cause it and Watch_Dogs will be really, really similar. Should've just saved Watch_Dogs to be the modern-day Assassin's Creed imo.

AC3 should have ended with them finding out that the apple was hidden in DC (as the cornerstone of some famous monument) and the last level should have been fully-trained Desmond doing his AC thing in a modern day D.C. to get to the apple against modern day templars. Cut the alien shit out entirely.

So that they could skip ahead of time in the past, rather than have you just wake up months later.

I actually liked the modern day stuff, up until 3 when they completely shit the bed with the conclusion.

So on the one hand I'm kind of glad they're continuing down that route, instead of the even stupider "you're a game developer doing research!" angle, but I also know it's only going to turn into disappointment again, because they clearly have no idea with this shit.

But damn AC3 is like the most disappointing conclusion to a trilogy ever.
