My dad has been the main villain in my life but my mom, while many times better, was not without her flaws. The most glaring was that she had a habit of doing this. For a long time, when someone around me said the word stupid, I would instinctively tune in because I thought they were talking to or about me. She finally stopped when we went to a family therapy thing and realized how bad it was hurting me but I was already a teenager by that time and a lot of damage had been done.

Reading about this honestly enrages me. I hope for that kid's sake she gets some help.

Reminds me of those people I saw at Disney World.

They were a pair--a man and a woman--and they were headed down toward the ferry, in a hurry because it was about to leave. This woman has heels on for some reason and is lagging behing, when suddenly she falls.

And I mean this was a great, spectacular fall despite not appearing to have been hammed up Ankle goes sideways, down she goes, and she even goes rolling a few feet.

The man hears her and turns around, backtracks the fifteen or so feet to where she fell, bends at the waist, puts his hands on his knees and says:

"Da hell ja do dat for?"

She picks herself up and they turn back ahead to go down to the ferry but it pulls out just then. They silently turn around and go off elsewhere in the park.

That always kinda haunted for some reason. No "are you ok," no "let me help you up," and she didn't even show disdain at being treated that way.

I guess the happiest place on Earth attracts the unhappiest people on Earth.

i was gonna say something to the mom but the girl i was with stopped me

I would be unsure of say anything in a situation like that? Like what if it makes the parent so angry they go home and beat their kid? :/
