If it starts moving around, that's a migraine. Literally feels like there is a knife twisting inside your head. I get like 2 a year.

The center is an odd spot for a blind spot. Maybe retinal detachment?

If it grows across your vision over the next 30 minutes to an hour you might get a terrible migraine afterwards

I think the official term is ocular migraine and I usually have to go into a completely dark room and close my eyes for a couple of a hours to lessen the chances of the migraine

Is it like an aura? Or...?

You need to go to an eye doctor. Think about what you're risking. It's worth going into debt for.

You may get a migraine. Were you stressed out badly this morning? Not that you have to be...

It could also be a silent migraine. The spot will go away on its own and nothing will happen at all.

What others said, a migraine aura will move around your vision and grow them shrink leaving a lingering blind spot and ultimately a migraine.

It's temporary.

If it's a black blind spot or just nothingness, you need to goto emergency room as it could be a stroke or ocular blood clot

Yeah pretty much. Once the ridiculous head pain starts to go away the super nausea kicks in.

I'm not sure what triggers it but I once had them 3 times in one week and have also had gone a couple entire years without having one.

Do you take any medication once you're having one or do anything specifically? I only do what I mentioned earlier with the dark room. @SlashmanSG

Yeah, when I have one it's very likely I'll have a second within the next few weeks. I usually take a few Tylenol, drink something with caffeine, and try to fall asleep before the real pain kicks in so I sleep through it. Easier said than done.

It's a migraine. Migraines CAN be painless. Get checked out to rule out lupus anticoagulant, I know a few cases of that causing this and it can be dangerous.

Honestly they'll tell you what we did, it's a migraine, not much can be done about it. Drink a lot of fluids, maybe smoke a bowl. Turn off the lights, turn off any sounds, they just make it worse.

Yeah, I remember once it happened to me, when I was delivering pizza for Pizza Hut. Manager took one look at me and wouldn't let me drive home. Talk to a doc of course, can never be too safe, but I'll bet they'll just give you tips on how to deal with it in the future.

You should get it checked. We dont even know if youve truly had a migraine. A migraine has a very characteristic appearance, which requires a good history and physical to fully diagnose. It sounds like your macula was involved maybe if you lost central vision but still have peripheral vision, but macular degeneration is typically bilateral and in older people. The short of it is that it cannot be diagnosed over an Internet forum and it needs at the very least a physical exam from a physician. It very well could be nothing but acute visual loss is ever something to shrug off.

I get so lucky with migraines. I've never had one actually hurt, but I get the vision thing and it's annoying af. They generally happen maybe twice a year, though i haven't had one in the last year.

It's true he should get it checked out regardless but it's most definitely an ocular migraine as Slashman and I were saying.

It first happened to me in high school and scared me as well so I don't want the TC to be super worried or anxious over this.

I spoke to multiple eye doctors and physicians regarding it and they said it wasn't a big deal and the most they can do is prescribe me migraine medication to take for whenever I start seeing the blind spot in my vision (meaning the ocular migraine is about to begin).

I had that happen. Turned out to be an acute macular neuroretinopathy, and despite immediate steroid treatment I have scarring on my right macula and a permanent hole in my vision. Go to the ER and get it checked out, now.
