Like is there a balance? I noticed people occasionally blame the media and society for influencing folks into doing certain hings, but when should personal accountability come into play, IYO? Is there a balance?

Media is a very powerful tool of propaganda. But it all comes down to whether the individual is able to cut through the bullshit.

But it's difficult to cut through the bs when the media is how you perceive the happenings of the world outside your community.

You would think that whites and blacks all hate each other, that men and women hate each other, that SJW's want to exterminate white people and that the alt right wants to exterminate minorities.

That's what the media has shaped people's perceptions to be. They are very responsible.

Ehh that's actually a really good point.

So maybe I would raise it to say 40/60. I will still give personal accountability the extra bump though.
