Of all companies... Google is the company I can see wanting to keep Net Neutrality. They are involved with most of the internet as is. They seemed to be pretty quiet. Why aren't they stepping up and trying to shut this down? They have the money.

Would be an awesome middle finger is if this does go through, Google rapidly expands fiber and offers it without any slows or incentives. I doubt any company will be a white knight though. Especially google. They just are the ones primed to benefit from it the most

Seems weird. Remember how they plastered it on the homepage for SOPA and made such a big uproar? Something is really fishy about it

There's not much they can do except try for payoffs as well, but who knows. At this point it might not just be money.

I think dollar for dollar, given that google and ISPs both have equally unlimited money for payoffs, the fact that ISPs can also offer information restrictions and can help Pai and his cronies at the FCC and whoever in the government get what they want on that end is too powerful.

Google is a trash tier company nowdays that doesn't know what it's doing. They got their hands into so many things that they have known issues going back years with no fix. When it doesn't work out, they pull out.

Disappointed tbh. Other companies got better at that stuff, while Google fell.

I assume they've got their lawyers ready to fight it in court since that's the best chance they have of stopping it, not by blacking out or anything like that.

Google would benefit. They are an ISP in some areas with their fiber. Maybe they are quieter because of that reason.
If I understand correctly, they are already in a war with Comcast or whoever ISPs for territory. They were expanding in my city until it just abruptly stopped and I heard they lost some legal battle to expand their service into Comcast's area.
Sounds pretty messed up. I wanted Google Fiber over Spectrum's garbage.

I do wonder if all this talk of deregulation and ending net neutrality could have an effect of Google expanding their Fiber service.

I assume they may file a lawsuit once the repeal is underway. Who knows.
