Honestly, I've never played the game. The levels don't look that fun on their own. But even taking some of my favorite Sonic or Mario games into account, I think that particular story and romance would've ruined the experience for me.

Those cut scenes could have gone between levels of Sonic 2 and I'd have been like, "This is miserable."

Even if it had been finished, there were a lot of fundamental problems, such as level design and the hub worlds.

Implying 3D Sonic hasn't always been on-rails like that (and in the case of SA2, Sonic and Shadow's stages)

06 took the homing attack thing and fucking ran with it, considering there's combat every five seconds and sonic's only options are mashing a to homing attack or using the weird bounce attack on big targets

Personally, I think the loading times and the absurd amount of glitches are what make it unplayable, not necessarily the gameplay itself.

I'm also guessing this topic was made because of AVGN's recent episode.

I remember playing a demo of Sonic 06, and the first level where you run across the water with those loops along the way would glitch and you would fall into the water.

The gameplay is similar to SA1/SA2 but a lot worse, mainly due to the glitches and lack of polish.

With the hordes of people spending the last couple of months running around saying that Sonic '06 had potential, I think a slaughterhouse has a lot more potential.

Generations saved the series so if Sonic died in 06 I would never forgive SEGA. My dreamcast and Saturn stuff would go in the trash to shove it to Sega.

I never played Colors I need to get on that along with the DS ones.

Generations is just so amazing. I mean It even has a violin version of the City Escape song on it how can you not love that? Plus City Escape and Speed Highway in classic sonic? :D

Game looked like it played itself for everything others than finding shoes and dogs

It might have ended up being less fun because at least 06 has some funny glitches, like Silver ejecting you from the boss arena or auto scrolling loops failing and sending you into the water. A complete version would just be ok at best.

Some of the problems where too core to the design in at that point to fix like the monsters with health bars that are just beat by HA spam and Mach Speed sections. Also the level design would have to be completely redone in some areas to fix. (jungle maze)
