A lot of games I play a little bit then stop. Sometimes I'll go halfway through and get bored/sidetracked/find it tedious. Usually the furtherest I'll go is simple completion.

I'm currently in the process of 100%ing my first game in a long time with Odyssey though. I had kind of made up my mind from the start that I'd 100% that.

Most of the AAA style games I don't finish. GTA V might be the only one this gen I've completed. XCom 2 if strategy counts. I'm better about going through racing/sports titles, to the extent that they even have campaigns.

If the game is enjoyable and doesn't require me to use a wiki to 100% it, then I'll try to do as much as i can (i.e. If it has an in-game tracker for sidequests and collectibles)
But I usually don't bother about difficulty achievements anymore, unless the game was really that good to play more than once.

According to Steam, I have 220 games sitting at 100%. So, yes, I do try to 100% them.

wtf? 220?

There's not even 220 games on Steam worth playing, much less 100%ing

I almost never 100% platformers since I think that takes a lot of the fun away from them. I mainly enjoy platforming games since they're fairly straightforward in the sense that you don't really need a guide.

Pride/accomplishment do factor into my enjoyment of a game. If a game has challenges it presents to me that are fun, I'll do those challenges. If I have to go out of my way to play a game in a manner I find "unfun", I won't bother with those challenges.

I try to at least finish the story/main objective(s). If not that, then until I get as much as I can out of it. e.g. Mario Odyssey has a short story, but the majority of the real game is in the post-game.

I rarely play through games more than once. Even less common is me going for all the achievements. I think I've done that with about 5 games out of hundreds.

That's one thing I appreciate about Odyssey.

I'm going for 880 moons, and the game is balanced very carefully so that it's hard to ever reach a point where you're 100% stuck. When you get down to a few moons left in the Kingdom, you can get hints for those specific ones and stuff like that to help you figure out the last stuff.

I usually 100% games as I usually only play games I really like. But there are exceptions.
Didn't like FFXIII, finished the story, fuck everything else.
Love Skyrim, but doing every single fetch quest takes away from my enjoyment.
Love GTA as well, but no way am I spending hours upon hours hunting down hidden packages, pigeons, oysters, ufo parts,... GTA5 being the biggest offender

As close to 100% as I can manage/tolerate, usually. I want to experience all the game has to offer.

Bullshit such as repetition, RNG, time limit missions, dumb minigames, and such gets in the way of 100% quite a number of times, and I don't bother with achievements. Plenty of times 100% is inconsequential to truly experience all the game has to offer anyway, as I don't need to win to know what the task is like.

I used to do hundo for everything, but recently my backlog started ballooning. The solution: I try all my games as I buy them, and I only invest serious time into the ones that are really fun.

It's why I dropped Golf Story after a couple hours but put 60+ into Picross.

I 100% very rarely.

I tend to beat the main storyline and do most sidequests, game pending. Not all the sidequests (especially in sandbox games a la Fallout) and stuff to do in the postgame generally bores me. Like, between messing with postgame or starting the game again, this time differently -- I generally opt for the latter.

What was that one in the park with the target like 200 feet in the air? I nope'd that one after like 2 tries, lol. There was also that one wallsprint one around the elevated train tracks that sucked. And the one on the bridge. And that walljump one on the castle-like building. And like ten others that were just garbage.

And don't forget the pizza missions where you average like 120mph swinging around New York at blinding speed and finally reach the last guy before time runs out, only to find that you still have to return the bag before time expires for some reason.

How does the pizzeria owner think you accomplish this? "Parker left three minutes ago and isn't back yet. All he had to do was deliver pizzas to window washers on high floors on opposite sides of the city. What's taking him?"

Back when I had time I would be adamant about 100%ing my games in terms of achievements. Now I just don't give a shit as long as I'm not missing anything I should have. I basically refuse to go after some of the harder ones. Like in Gears 4 there are some really stupid achievements they added like beating the campaign on Ironman mode (death deletes your save) on hardcore solo. Fuck that.

I tried 100%ing the achievements in Dark Souls 2 SotFS and Dark Souls 3 but they require NG+ and I refuse to do those. If I'm doing a second playthrough I'm not wasting it by playing the same character.
