Idols are an essential part of Survivor, though. They weren't in the first ten seasons, but now it's not Survivor without idols. This is the opposite of Game Changers - instead of all three idols being sat on for so long, we're getting them played too frequently. Enough is enough.

They should have four per season, I'd think. One on each tribe, with one rehidden at the merge if available.

But it'd be a cool twist to have no idols - or just one at the merge - and not tell anybody.

Also, which beach did they merge to? Based on photographic evidence, it's the Hustlers, I think?

With how often this gets proposed, I've developed my own variant of this twist: one idol, but it's available to anyone from the start of the game and is rehidden, similar to how it worked in Micronesia.

That way, there's always the potential for idol paranoia, even if the cast figures out the relative lack of idols.

I honestly would not be offended by any of them winning. All of them are fascinating people and have made for several good TV moments.

Devon convinces the jury that the Secret Spy Ben plan was his, which sways votes his way until Ben counters, "But I was the one who pulled it off. You weren't the one lyin' to everybody." It's a chaotic final three where, as Probst said, votes change at the FTC, and I'm guessing that means often.

There are Chrissy truthers going around but I don't buy into that. She did not talk game with most of the jury. They do not know where her head was at. They will not reward her.

At this point the only person I'm confident isn't winning is Ryan. This is pretty clearly another season where the edit is shitting on edgic so I'm not going to bother to try and predict what happens.

Chrissy was my favorite for most of the season but Devon might have overtaken her now. even Ben has been really enjoyable the last few eps. i just hope Mike doesn't win.

Yeah, I think I'm predicting a Ben win as well. I don't think Chrissy or Ryan stand a chance at all, and I think Mike would be totally out of left field. I don't think the narrative has given enough attention for a Mike win given his story thus far.

Mike - The focus on idols and big moves over the social game this season makes me want someone who wins on their social game despite their only big move involving an idol failing miserably.

Chrissy - I've come around on her the last few episodes. I think it would be funny for the first mom archetype to win in 10 seasons to be the one with probably the worst social game out of all of them.
Devon - His victory doesn't help or detract the season in my eyes.

Ben - I don't think he's an awful character but one Mike Holloway victory was enough. And at least the edit made it clear that people still generally liked Mike as a person.
Ryan - Still awful, except since the merge I don't even think you could justify his win on strategic grounds.
