They're hoping that one day they'll give them the ol' "best friend lap sit hug" and that they will notice their bulge

Guy thinks he can get her by doing that but is delusional/unaware he's been friendzoned.

Girl is entirely aware she's taken him for granted but will play dumb whenever someone calls her out on it or points out he likes her.

Girl is entirely aware

When girls have a 'bestie' that is male are they actually aware that they are into them?

do they actually consider then their bestie or do they have a real bestie and just say that to the dude to avoid rejecting him or something

Girls aren't dumb. I believe they're a lot smarter than guys when it comes to attraction, relationships and manipulation.

Various reasons probably. Maybe to string them along or maybe to politely reject them and keep them out of the pool of potential partners she would really want. Or maybe she does believe it.

Or they realize gender has nothing to do with friendship.

Or this too. But some guys can't just "be friends" with girls.

My bestie Amanda and I have no romantic feelings for eachother. Though we do have a marriage pact... in the event we don't get hitched.

Yeah, it's probably rare, but one of my absolute best friends since I was six years old (and I'm... ugh... 35 now) is a girl, and we never had any romantic feelings or whatever. We're both happily married to other people now but still talk and hang out a lot.
