Haven't seen the trailer, but Sophitia died between SC4 and SC5, so unless this is a retcon or she's back from the dead, bet on Cassandra.

Thank christ SC6 seems to going back to the good characters, the cast of 5 was easily one of the worst parts in that one. Although I don't really like that it seems to be going for more Super attacks or whatever.

People act like 5 was an all-new cast but it had a lot of returning characters. New characters only made up a third of the roster which seems like a lot until you realize most of them are legacy characters with direct ties to the veterans they replaced. The reason people don't like them is because the story mode sucked so bad and they didn't include endings in arcade mode, so the newcomers don't get any proper introduction or character development that the veterans got over 4+ games. They never stood a chance.

The story and lack of arcade endings were the only things bad about 5 imo (well, the guest sucked too but that's minor). They admitted story mode was supposed to be 4 times larger than what we got but it got trimmed hard in development. If they remastered 5 with the story the way it was intended, and some arcade endings to give the newcomers some depth, I bet the game would be respected a lot more.

Hopefully they are either rebooting the series or retconning Soul Calibur 5's awful story and killing/writing off a bunch of characters and replacing them with new, worse ones with similar move sets, out of existence.

the story killed it for sc5 for being short and only for 2 characters

I played sc2 from start to finish, did all the labrynths and collected every single weapon
and then went to 5 almost a decade later

i thought five was awesome

the circus fighter was really cool with the moon blades and it had some awesome backgrounds

I actually thought the other ones were really tacky
like darth vader in soul caliber

if they release one soul caliber game a generation that's ok with me

It's very obviously Sophitia, it's even a mix of her SC1 and 2 outfit.

I enjoyed the story, even though I can't remember any but the two main characters and content was clearly cut. The story was actually given proper exposition unlike typical fighting game arcade modes. It reminded me of weapon master mode from Soul Calibur II, probably the best single player experience I've had in a fighting game despite the story technically being fan fiction.

I watched the trailer thing and thought it was Sophitia, then I watched a gameplay footage thingy and yeah, it's Sophitia I think.

Soulcalibur 2's the only other one I have substantial experience with. I'm going through Weapon Master mode again and it doesn't involve the actual characters outside of gameplay, but maybe arcade mode's less vague than I remember.
