Finally listened. It's worse than I was expecting.
I'll say the same thing about this as Walk on Water, the message has potential for a great song but it was just poorly executed in a surface level uninteresting way. Same for his BET freestyle, holy shit that was horrendous on a technical level. Like what the fuck happened to him? He used to be the GOAT at freestyle rapping.

Honestly Rap God is the only song of his in a long time I even liked and that's because it showed he still had the raw skill in terms of flow, word play, writing a dense song, and it wasn't the overproduced half singing half rapping he's done for most of his hits this decade in the style of trash like Love The Way You Lie. I can't fuck with him past Encore really and even then I don't feel like it's as good as
TSSLP, MMLP, and TES

Yeah Eminems trash now but pre getting sober he had 5-6 years where he was undeniably awesome. His career is pretty easily separated between pre and post sobriety. And of course everyone here is just gonna act like those years didnt happen - Ive noticed that people have a hard time usually talking about how great rappers used to be as opposed to rock bands. Maybe because youd actually have to spend time listening to whole albums and reading lyrics with rap to fully appreciate it.
