It's because how are we supposed to see what matters if it's all lost in a couple of years? Seasons 8 and 9 could be really good but I'm getting really tired of leaks and early releases and general disregard for scheduling that Pony has had recently.

i went and read the s8 synopses, i'm not worried about s8.

i was a huge fan of when they staggered out two-parters the one time (oh my god, everyone lost their minds between return of harmony pt.1 and 2). so i think it goes without saying that i'm a fan of adherence to schedule and even ads and having to tune in at a certain time. it all adds to the experience for me. i had always used the commercial breaks to chat with the stream.

just try to appreciate the episodes in a vacuum. it's not mlp:fim's fault that it exists today. if the simpsons had met its prime in this decade, the same sort of things would have hurt it too.

I'm not gonna spoil myself on all of Season 8 but the fact they the leaks are already pushing art and discussion on my usual channels is irritating and I don't really have the patience to cut off all communication until an undisclosed time in the upcoming year.

i know what you mean, though. personally, my approach has always been to match pace with the spoilers and leaks. that way, i still get to see things for the first time as they were meant -- not trickled out in images and posts that should have been spoilered out. mlp:fim is a victim of its time just as much as we are.

it's definitely in their best interest to keep the spirit of the show intact. that's hard to argue, right? i like the comparisons to star trek that i've seen -- still a good show, just for different reasons. tng wasn't bad at all, even though i'm a huge tos nerd. kirk is my fucking captain dude. but i get my dose of that from jonathan frakes.

I think this is still more or less in a state of shock but I still feel like there's no point in keeping up with the series if the end is soon.

i really only watched up to tng. i wouldn't know.

I still feel like there's no point in keeping up with the series if the end is soon.

this could mean that it ends before it gets bad. this could be that good end we've always wanted. we can't balk at it now.

Not for nothing, but this is the double edged sword at work here. Having groups and communities are great for the fandom to build support and bonds, but create the perfect storm for drama and friction. Leaks spill, debate turns into argument, and missteps turn into trainwrecks, amplified over and over with every subcommunity. From what I'm hearing it's a pretty big issue that's going on, but no matter how big or little the issue, it can't take away from what we've had over the years. People worry so much about the future we lose sight of the present, robbing ourselves of the happiness we can have now.

To add some final thoughts on the matter at hand, it's one thing to acknowledge them, but it's entirely up to us to let it rule over everything that we(as a fanbase) has created and enjoyed over the years. Everything ends eventually, but in a show like this it was no longer about the destination, but the journey. The highs, the lows, the oceans of communities, and the straits that connect them. A bad/forced ending is always bitter, but it doesn't necessarily define a legacy. Doesn't take away from what's been made, is being made, and what will be made years from now.

A good show doesn't end where the episodes stop.
