It seems like one of the Nopon Doubloons won't spawn for me. I don't get the Doubloon after opening the chest. I reloaded my game so I could try again later but I might have to wait for a patch before I can complete the quest.

Also I'd heard people say to grind Vampire Bride for legendary cores but yikes. The level 75 bat in Gormott works so much better for me. Dies waaay faster (despite being 11 levels higher) and seems to drop a lot more legendaries.

Dying faster is actually a bad thing. You don't need to kill the enemy to get Legendary Cores from them. You are supposed to Smash them over and over again for items. If they die, it actually slows down the process since you need to spend a bit of time respawning them.

The problem I have with the Vampire Bride is the location you fight it on. I always end up pushing it to the edge of the platform during the battle which means a bunch of items fall off the side.

Yeah that positioning is a big problem too.

But I also think the bat has less Break resistance. Even with beta scopes on my two breakers, Vampire Bride still resists too often for my liking. The bat almost never resists. It also doesn't really have any dangerous attacks, while enraged Vampire Bride can do a lot of damage.

I'm in chapter 4 and the story is getting really ridiculous. I'm okay with the evil robot maid but a nopon pulling a gun is just too weird for me.

I ended up starting this over and am taking my time raising blade affinity and actually fighting monsters instead of rushing through everything. Im enjoying it a bit more at this pace, but I still have a lot of QoL issues.

Anyway, did they stealth buff the core crystal drop rate? Im only in chapter 2, but I feel like Im getting way more from enemies than I did my first time through.

The core of this game is so damn good, but there are QoL issues that the first game didn't have and that's as irritating as it is confusing.

Man the story really goes places. Top tier writing and localisation. The battle system is amazing when you understand it. There's a ton of worthwhile content. Let's hope they patch the minor issues.

You'll get more if you do driver combos. The drop rate difference is really noticeable when I switch blades and lose access to my good combos.

Blade affinity is tied to the blade itself, right? So if I level one on Rex to level 3, and then override it to Nia, it will still be level 3?

I've been using Adenine on him since her various skills seem better suited for an attacker, but he also has Zenobia so I go back and forth. Too many good Wind Blades tbh.

Killing Azure Reginald (the sea serpent in Uraya) was simultaneously the most frustrating and satisfying thing I've done in this game so far. I probably should have just come back at a higher level than 46, but that was the first thing that really made me pay attention to accessories, seals, aux cores, and timing my chain attack and orb bursts correctly, on top of managing his positioning so that I could actually hit him.

Of course all of his loot sunk into the water at the end.

The first time I tried to kill him, it was a long fight and I was really getting in a groove of putting on a bunch of orbs and I thought I'd manage it in the end... until I drew that level 70 piranha's aggro and was quickly murdered for it.

I said fuck it and flew off somewhere else.

I started controlling Tora after getting third Poppi for the easy driver combos but Rex and 5th are too fast for me and do the topple/launch/smash before I can react lol.

I'm using rex, nia, 4th. put wulfric and perun on 4th but it seems like wulfric never really gets used

also I'm lacking a wind element, so I might have to take flerun off of nia for adreine

and I just beat that unique fight in ch5 off the tiny island. bastard nearly gave me a heart attack when he popped outta nowhere and almost gave me another heart attack when he summoned more of those annoying spikey monsters.

Wow, the level 3 Merc quest "Test of Strength" doesn't fuck around. First hard fight in the game that wasn't just me taking on some giant monster that was way over my level (I mean, I was about 10 levels lower than the quest, but still...)

Had to be clever about how I used my specials and chain attacks to get through before they used their super moves that would wipe out my entire party. If I have one criticism about the battle system in the Xenoblade games is that I never know why I die when I do die, due to all the chaos going on. It just sort of happens without me noticing so I can't really tell what I should do to stop it.

Oh well at least the quest is finally complete, though I'm still sitting on two Strange Minerals that I apparently can't get appraised anymore.

sounds like everything potentially missable gets moved to other locations after chapter 8

One location becomes inaccessible late game so you can miss out on quests/merc missions there but I don't think any of them have any exclusive rewards. Indoline Praetorium at the end of Chapter 08.

If you kill the armu in Torigoth before you finish feeding it, you miss out on a unique monster with exclusive endgame weapon chips.

Apparently the Nopon Dubloons quest has a glitch where it won't give you one of them when you open the chest, but I don't know details on it.

now to figure out how i want to equip 4th... i think I've run dry on my luck in pulling rares. used 50 common cores and 5 rare cores with nia+luck boosting equips and only pulled one rare blade.

4th is an agility tank, so that's the way you want to gear

Keeping your block rate at 50% or higher for all of your tanks blades is a good idea too

Katana Blades and Finch are good on 4th.

Electra supposedly has a really good block rate, but some people say don't use hammers on 4th because they interfere with her agility. Finch has an agility mod.

Electra boosts HP though right so at least there's some survivability added

I think hammers are a little underrated on 4th, but Finch especially is a good fit IMO.

(4th can get two katana blades for free between the story and a sidequest and together with their default blade they make up one of their best possible builds, so don't sweat bad pull luck too much.)

You can still go activate those Lv3 points. I don't know if they do anything, though. The one I did so far just gave me bugs.

I went back to where I thought I remembered one was, but nothing was there anymore. But it was Gormott and navigating Gormott sucks so I could've easily been on the wrong level or something... I don't remember off hand where the others were and the field skill markers are all gone now.

Oh wait it might just be the Gormott one that disappeared.

That's odd. The field markers are still there for me which is why I still knew which locations to go to.

Well I was gonna say maybe it was just the bug spots that stayed and mineral spots that disappeared, but I just dug up a mineral from a level 2 spot I missed in Mor Ardain.

Is there any way to choose which orbs you target during a chain attack other than picking an opposing element? Its starting to get annoying having an orb at 2/3 damage and then having an attack just target some other orb and breaking the combo.

There's an aux core that will make the Blade it's equipped to target already weakened orbs, but I don't think there's any other way.
