Great series. I also liked the Ender's Shadow series about Bean.

Heard the movie is a joke compared to the book, which makes me be interested in reading the books because so far that's what i've done with every movie adaptation of books and it usually holds true (like how they butchered war of the worlds compared to the book for example)

I like the Shadow series more than Enders 4, but I like Enders Game the best out of them.

Definitely agreed. One that comes to mind recently is the Maze Runner series. Booms were amazing but the movies were meh. Might not even watch the 3rd one coming out.

I didn't even know maze runner was a series of book before the movie, and the movie was god awful, i should read those books too some time...

Yeah there are 5 books. The first 3 are in order then the last 2 that came out were prequels to the original.

I don't think I finished the Enders game movie. Or shit, maybe I did. That's not a good endorsement at all.

I remember them making a few key changes that really pissed me off. There were a few other changes that seemed unnecessary and completely changed the tone.

It was upsetting, especially considering how long they waited to make it in order to "get it right".

Yeah, I always switch back and fourth on which book I like better. I remember after I read Shadow thinking that this was way better than Ender's Game, but then after I re-read Game again, I thought it was really close

So I kind of rate them equal, and that's hard to do with perhaps my favorite book of all time

Having read all the Ender and Bean books, they.... get extremely weird in the last couple. You're best served reading Ender's Game, Speaker for the Dead, and then all the Bean books and pretending like the remaining Ender series books don't exist.

Interesting book. I can see why it's a classic. The real big problem with it is mostly the horribly anti-climactic ending. Orson Scott Card being a horrible human being doesn't help things, either.

I don't let people's personal shit mess with the things I like about them. Chris Benoit was a scumbag for what he did, but I have zero issues watching his matches or still calling him one of the best to ever work in Pro Wrestling.

In some cases, I agree. It get's more difficult with mediums that tend to use allegory and symbolism to convey ideas and messages, such as literature and music. It's easier with sports, where their ability is based on their physical capabilities and almost completely independent from their ideas or opinions, but when someone writes a book it's almost entirely based on their thoughts and ideas.

I mean, I'm not saying Ender's Game is an anti-homosexual author tract, but you can see where I am coming from too, right?

Yep, he is. That's why I want to read this Science Fiction book about The Book of Mormon by him, even though it's already kind of scifi.

Is there any book in the series that talks about Peter's time at Battle School? I want to know how he was so evil there

IIRC Peter was never in battle school. He was monitored when young and rejected for being too aggressive.

The Ender's Shadow series does go quite a bit more into Peter's character and growth though.

He never went to school? I just took about 10mins to re-read what I just read to prompt this post, but I must have misread something because I don't see what I "read" lol

There's school, which is where we find Ender in the opening chapters. And then there's battle school, which is where roughly half the novel takes place.

Yep, I know that

I just clearly misread something. I thought when the two "voices" at the start of most Chapters they said something about Peter while he was in Battle School, but that's clearly not the case.
