I agree totally with the weapon degradation in BotW being surprisingly fun. I fully expected it to be tedious but it really does force a ton of fun experimentation
My one gripe is that you specifically have to find the Lost Woods to do any significant inventory upgrades. I feel like Hestu should be at every town during the day once you find him, like Kilton is at night. Youre encouraged to find all those Koroks but if you havent been to this one specific spot on the map, you cant really make much use of them. --- Thank you, Eddie Guerrero. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DRlKR5nU8AA_v_C?format=jpg&name=large ... The biggest hook for me with PUBG is the one and done nature of it. In past multiplayer shooters I would always seek the survival modes where you only had 1 life and when you killed a man they were done for the rest of that round without respawning. Oh. I guess I'll play this game then. Thought it was brain dead deathmatch like most games these days. --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

TOP 10 GAMES OF THE YEAR
1. Super Mario Odyssey The 2nd half of Nintendo's 1-2 punch this year, we got a masterclass in video game design. After finishing Breath of the Wild I was confident no other game this year was going to come even close to being my Game of the Year, but then here came my main man Mario to show me how it's done. I ended up shutting myself away for 4 days straight as I played this game for about 55 hours collecting all 999 moons and consuming all the content it had to offer in what ended up being my favorite Mario game of all time. Super Mario Odyssey is a celebration of all things from Mario's 36 year history while also bringing enough new elements to the table so that it doesn't feel like they're just rehashing old ground. The game returns to the style of Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine with large sandbox worlds filled with puzzles to solve and platforming challenges to conquer where you must collect Moons (as opposed to Stars or SHINEs) to progress to the next area. These worlds vary in size from the size of those areas in 64 and Sunshine to several times larger that pre-release you could have mistaken this for another open world game. Mario's hat is now sentient and can possess other enemies (51 total I think?) that all have their own unique controls and playstyles. My favorite was the the little bird Pokio found in the latter half of the game. It can shoot out its beak to penetrate walls, then you use the stick to fling him in a direction to move up the sides of walls. It was so fun I could see someone building an entire game just around that mechanic. Mario Odyssey changes collecting moons by not dumping you back to a menu or a hub world after you collect each one, instead as soon as you find one the game just continues from there. The worlds are designed in a way that from every moon you collect you can always see something that catches your eye that ends up leading to another challenge and another moon. For a lot of the these moons there is no one solution and you can tackle them any way you choose. There is the intended way sure, but if you want you can use 2 decades worth of 3D Mario platforming skills to completely circumvent these challenges and create your own to reach a platform. It felt like no matter what idea popped into my head that I was able to do it in game which to me felt like a new type of freedom I had not seen before in games. This is what really set this game apart for me from Breath of the Wild. Every moment of the game I felt there was something to do with no downtime and I was having fun doing it the whole way through. Even when I didn't know if a moon would be in the area I was checking out or not, my experimentation and exploration was always rewarded. Mario can go anywhere and do anything, the only real limit is yourself, and that's why Super Mario Odyssey is my Game of the Year. --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

Next up let's see if I can think of a quick 20 most anticipated for 2018
Feels wrong to make this list every year since half the stuff that would be likely to make this list won't get announced until E3 anyway and there's a lot of stuff with unconfirmed release dates that may or may not be 2018 so I'm only sticking the stuff that I'm fairly certain we'll make it out next year ( so sorry bayonetta 3 and Kingdom Hearts 3) 1. Dragon Quest XI 2. Red Dead Redemption 2 3. Mega Man 11 4. Dragon Ball FighterZ 5. Yakuza 6: The Song of Life 6. Monster Hunter World 7. Bayonetta 1+2 Switch 8. Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection 9. Dissidia Final Fantasy NT 10. Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes 11. Yoshi 12. Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom 13. Valkyria Chronicles 4 14. Kirby Star Allies 15. The Last of Us Part 2 16 Far Cry 5 17. God of War 18. Detroit Become Human 19. Shadow of the Colossus remake 20.
