Especially with regards to seeing every scene being shot, regardless of whether or not it's in the final movie. Seeing everything that was left on the cutting room floor. That would be so cool.

With art, I love seeing a work's development. There's an article I read about a recent painting and it actually showed you how it initially looked and the changes it went through before the final version.

Seeing the same with a movie would be awesome.

Stuff that doesn't even make it to the deleted scenes in a home release on bluray, which is a feature that not all film makers even put in as an extra.

One of my dreams is to work on a movie. Doesn't matter if it's as a screenwriter, actor or director. I just want to be a part of it

Have you seen the website lostmedia? They mention a lot of scenes in movies that were filmed but never released on any home media and never seen by anyone.

Yeah behind the scenes is a concept that I really appreciate more throughout the years and now absolutely love.

I'll check it out thanks! Out of the many movies that have this issue, I'm thinking of once upon a time in America that reportedly suffered the most from being chopped up.

Especially when you hear about a director shooting 8 hours of footage and yet being forced to condense that to a 3 hour movie, or less even. I wanna see all that other footage, it's such a waste of film rolls to not see everything or at least have the option to for those interested.

it would be cool if movies had every bit of footage from the set, on their special features. imagine being able to see the evolution of your favorite movies. you could spend years probably watching bits of footage here and there and seeing everything they did

For such a film fanatic it seems you dont understand how shooting/editing a film works...

When theres 8 hours of footage that usually means multiple takes of the same scene.

And where does this every bit of footage thing stop? Secondary units? Pickup shots? Unrendered effects shots???

Yes to all of that. How bizarre to act condescending, I wonder what spurred that.

i also wish i could be in the meeting rooms where really dumb decisions are made for anything in entertainment. also where really awesome decisions are made. i bet both meetings are very similar regardless of the outcome.

we can all be such assholes

Hell no. If i were to learn too much i would get too concious of how things were done, and it might break the illusion of movies for good.

Same I worked on some indie film sets in NYC back in the day and it's really boring most of the time. The movie that you see is a final product that required many different people in post production, since that's where most of the movie magic comes from.

And any 'making of' or 'behind the scenes' things you have watched still don't show you how boring it gets once you've been on set for a few hours and people are getting cranky and/or restless.
