Didnt see the video of him until now. Lawd, he looks pissed.

I used to think everyone was cray, but maybe the mouse did put something in his ear. Maybe they'll pull a Lucas and have huge changes in the home release vs the theatrical one

Do people actually think it is more likely that Disney has threatened Mark Hamill than he came around?

It's not farfetched if you take into account that actors and whatnot have to sign disclosure agreements on exactly what they can say in terms of the piece of work.

And that it's in a company's best interest to not have actors of iconic characters like Luke fucking Skywalker going around saying negative things about their recent several billion dollar investment that's just getting started.

Especially coming from Disney, the largest media conglomerate in the world, Apple's "sibling", and the company that cares so much about perception that they'll shoot themselves and their friends behind the scenes to portray exactly what they want.

Of course not discounting that maybe he just came around.

This literally wouldn't even be the first time they did some shit like this.

Because Vader's voice was replaced post production, Hamill didn't know Vader was Luke's father until he saw the movie in theaters.

This is 100% not true. Hamill was one of the only people to know in advance, and when they told him they said that's how they'd know it was him if it leaked. That's from Hamill himself.

wait did they actually drastically change the story without telling one or more major actors (who didn't find out until the premiere) tho?

Yes. Vader's line was about Obi Wan killing Anakin.

Only Hamill and Lucas knew the true scene.

Right. My bad. It was Hamill, Lucas, James Earl Jones, and that's it. Maybe people who did sound editing.

He said he ended up liking the movie all the way back when he made the original comments.

As noted in my cover story, Hamill has a lot of thoughts on how Luke might have been reintroduced differently in The Force Awakens. He could have come in during Han Solos climactic scene with Kylo Ren, receiving some sort of Force-telepathy distress call from his sister, General Leia, but arriving too late to save Han from death. Or, perhaps, he might have materialized in the snowy forest of Starkiller Base, where Rey duels with Kylo. On his first read-through of the script, Hamill recalled, he got excited when the legendary lightsaber wiggled portentously in the snow. The moment in the forest, when the saber rattles? he said. I go, Oh, baby, here I come! And then it flies into her hands? I said, What the hell, she hasnt even trained!

Likewise, after reading Rian Johnsons script for The Last Jedi, Hamill said, I at one point had to say to Rian, I pretty much fundamentally disagree with every choice youve made for this character. Now, having said that, I have gotten it off my chest, and my job now is to take what youve created and do my best to realize your vision.

Hamill noted that he has the utmost respect for Johnson and The Force Awakenss director, J.J. Abrams, and is pleased with how both films have turned out. He just wanted to be heard. To both directors, Hamill said, he delivered a version of this spiel: I have thousands of really terrible ideas I would love to share with you, among which you mightjust law of averagesfind a nugget of something and go, Thats not as terrible as the other 35 you just told us.

People have really ran away with that single sentence. I feel sorry for the guy.

People will always, always ignore this part.

This is what Hamill regrets. He doesn't regret disagreeing, he regrets being too much of an open book because people will cherrypick his words and run with narratives. He's an eccentric artist filled with ideas, some of which are good and some of which are bad. He likes TLJ.

Like someone linked above, Hamill is still a little salty a million years later that they had Luke chop off a wampa's arm. He has his perception of Luke and that's allowed, but that doesn't make it the end-all.
