This isn't a "save a person" topic or tournament type of thing. Just a list/discussion of FF, its characters, and who we find are awesome. If you want to go in depth, feel free to add in the worst as well. It might be hard for the first 3, but the later games have no shortage. Characters run the gamut from PCs, NPCs, villains, and even chocobos/moogles/etc. I'll make a template to help people out. I'll put my own list in a different post. Mostly since I haven't played the MMOs, so those will be absent from my list.

Also, FFI-III will probably be weak entries, so just list whatever makes sense.

Correct (either that or Zande). I only know that because he OHKO ProJared immediately in a playthrough (that fucking dungeon). Otherwise, I wouldn't have remembered him at all.

It doesn't help that Twincast takes forever to use effectively. However, I like Porom more. Sometimes, the prim & proper people just work...even if they are usually boring. Maybe it was dicking around with Palom that made me like her.

FFIV: That's GOTTA be Kain.
FFV: Gilgamesh is just too much fun.
FFVI: While I like Celes, Kefka, Gogo, Shadow, Locke and Edgar, it's Setzer far and away. He's Bret Maverick in the sky.
FFVII: Cid Highwind taught me to drink tea. Honorable mentions to Reno, Sephiroth, Tifa, Red XIII, Elena, Vincent, and Cloud. And, of course, the Great Ninja Yuffie.
FFVIII: Squall is a strong lead against a weak cast. I do like Fujin, though.
FFIX: It's Zidane's story in the end, but I personally prefer Beatrix. There's a certain nobility I love there. Garnet and Steiner are great too.
FFX: Auron is my Constant. Also enjoy Rikku.
FFXI: Lion, I guess?
FFXII: The Leading Man. Followed by his leading lady. Followed by the actual leading man (Basch). Followed by HIS leading lady (Larsa).
FFXIII: Vanille and Sazh.
FFXIV: Having played it a lot, I can tell you unequivocally that I liked absolutely no character.
FFXV: CINDY CINDY CINDY CINDY. Aranea in close second. The Grove Street Gang in close third all together (Prompto is probably the bottom of that heap, though).

The buildup and payoff to Galuf's death and passing his power onto Krile is handled very well, they're some of my favorite moments in the series

Sabin's the most fleshed-out character of VI imo.

I actually like/don't mind most of the characters from that least favorite list.

FFVII: Tseng. Sorry but you are just so forgetable.
FFVIII: Zell. Best character in battle, but oh his character is just...ugh.. And being the worst of the cast says a lot in this game.
FFIX: Zorn & Thorn. Remember how good it felt to kill them?
FFX: Wakka. I think everyone can understand why some dislike him.
FFXII: Vaan. He stole the main character role from Basch and did nothing with it.
FFXIII: Snow. Really Fang is just better....
FFXV: Can't say that I dislike anyone in this game. Iris if I have to pick one.
