i think it's pretty big. i've been running three monitors for a few years. i recently elected to flip one of them into portrait orientation so now i have two regular, one portrait, and i keep tweetdeck on the portrait one (and play classic vertical shmups on it)

Oh yeah, I remember seeing your shmup topic. I opened it and then didn't say anything because you requested steam and the only thing in that genre I know anything about is Touhou.

I'm excited regardless though, because my current setup is to have some form of stream/video on one monitor, while I do everything on the other. With a third, I can put things like discord/IRC/Thunderbird on the third one and not have to remember to bring it up to check them. And that's just the bare minimum

I'm thinking about getting a fourth and putting it on top of my center monitor but I don't think I want to crank my neck up to look at even more screen lol

Basically it lets you have the full function of two monitors while using the third as a dedicated video screen-- if you don't like half watching videos much then I don't feel there are many gains to be had-- I haven't really used my third monitor much aside from that.

But it is nice to have that option, for me.

yeah i tend to have a music player and a chat client snapped to each half of one monitor, browsing and work snapped to each half of the middle monitor, and tweetdeck over on the portrait one, though it's big enough that i can snap tweetdeck and a chat client and keep video on the first one. it's just fantastic for multi-tasking and perfect for my work

that said, i don't do a lot of multi-monitor gaming. just not something that i've looked into.

I do basically zero multi-monitor gaming

in fact, the only full screen game I play with anything approaching semi-regularity is Civ V. Everything else is windowed (FTL, LttP randomizer in a SNES emulator, touhou etc)

I've never used three monitors at once. Can't imagine doing so. I use two at both work (my main job task requires it for speed) and home (one for gaming/video/main internet; the other for socials and game guides) and love it, but three would be too much. Work would slow down that way.

Ive done it and like the third one is more what am I doing with this? Mostly it kept like a chat window open or something. I dont think you need it unless you have like a very specific reason. Like even for editing purposes three was overkill
