The instructions always say this but I'd rather just have a softer crust and not have to clean the oven out afterwards, and also not have to figure out how to remove a pizza from an oven without ruining it/oven mitts.

I do it sometimes. I only don't do it when I put a bit of olive oil and garlic (powder or granulated) on the pan prior to placing the pizza on it and putting it into the oven.

Most of the time I cook it on the rack. The hard part can be not letting any of the toppings fall off. Then I'll have a stinky oven

there are pizza "pans" that are just grates tho
or am i wrong either way, it's not hard to lubricate the rack before putting the pizza on if you're worried about sticking... --- im a good person ... Copied to Clipboard!

easy:
put directly on rack put baking sheet underneath, on 2nd rack to catch anything. not rocket science. also apparently cooking it longer gives you softer crust, if youre into that for whatever reason. --- Vandelay Industries Importing & Exporting ... Copied to Clipboard!

I use a flat Cast Iron Skillet. It's the closest thing I have to a Baking Stone.

Invest in a pizza stone. Only ever wipe it off with water. If you wash it with soap, every pizza cooked on it will taste like it.
