They're popular here in Canada too, though some of that has to do with wintry road conditions. They are handy when you need to move shit.

Because MURICA

I had the craving for a pickup a few months ago. I had a week where I was feeling super patriotic.

I've calmed down though. I'm just gonna get a Dodge Charger instead.

Nah makes it seem like the guy is seriously compensating for having tiny dick and balls especially the people who put truck nuts on their truck.

I saw a truck at the grocery store yesterday with these. It was also lifted as fuck, and the back window had a big "2nd Amendment Will Not Be Repealed" sticker, an NRA sticker, a Trump sticker, an "I learned all I need to about Islam on 9/11" sticker, and an "Obama is a terrorist" sticker.

Then there was a bunch of other shit like the Monster logo on the bumper

It was like the ultimate "I have a micropenis" starter kit.

outside of cities, most areas have lots of land and land that has not been improved upon (in comparison to land in western europe), and you pair this with the "do it yourself" or "git 'er done" mentality, and suddenly you have a personal need for a pickup truck.

It all makes perfect sense.

I just can't believe people who buy and finance new trucks. They're seriously $60,000+ and most people just use them as transportation. People cripple their family's well being by financing these things because some idiots feel insecure without it. Duuuuumb

They usually have insanely good lease deals on them though. One dealership was advertising a loaded Silverado for $230/month for a 36 month/36000 mile lease with nothing down.

RAMs usually have even better deals.

Pickup trucks are just really nice. They're high up so you feel like flying almost, they're dependable and just outright useful. There is no real downside to one.

Oh and women love them too.

You don't know why people need giant ass trucks. How often are all five seats in your Sonata and Passat filled? I don't know why somebody would need a five seat sedan. I have a motorcycle, why do you need such a big ass car?

No it's not a regional thing.
SUVs and pick-ups are the thing here. Around cities you'll see more sedans/compact cars but still way more trucks than you'd see in a Western European city.

Nowadays you dont buy a vehicle outright anymore.

You just pay a bit of deposit. You pay the installments like its rent. The massive final payment aint ment to be affordable.

You give the car back, then you get a new car to pay installments on.

Its called Personal Contract Purchase (PCP).

If you ask a BMW dealership. They will tell you 80% of their customers take that route.

For me, i like to own my stuff. That way i wont have to worry about mileage and wont have to worry about roughing it up. I just buy 1 year old low end cars like honda civic or ford focus with really really low mileage.

Trucks are terrible for driving in the snow. There's virtually no weight on the rear wheels to get traction.

That's why you put a bunch of snow in the bed.

When I had a bmw I used to put a couple hundred pounds of weight in the trunk. Personally I prefer rear wheel drive to front. Of course 4wd is optimal, which many pickup trucks are!

Doesn't stop idiots from flying down a three lane highway with only one lane plowed at 70+ mph.

Basically, you use them to move large objects around. Like a dishwasher, or a couch. If you're doing repairs on your property, you'll probably want to load them up with drywall.

If you're an outdoors type of person, trucks are great for hitching up trailers / camping equipment, or boats, or other sports equipment like bicycles that generally fit awkwardly on other vehicles (either strapped to back or on top, dramatically raising clearance height of vehicle and risk them falling off). If you hunt at all, you'll need one to haul back a deer.

I imagine pick up trucks are not suitable for most farming needs beyond hauling sacks of stuff or bales of hay.

Can literally rent trucks by the hour at Home Depot for like $20. There is no reason to own a truck IMO unless you're using it often for its intended purposes or taking it driving long distances such as for hunting.
