Zelda Breath of the Wind: Basically "babies first open world adventure". The formula is nothing new, and perhaps even more generic than most open world games with less content.

How did Nintendo manage to trick the kiddies into thinking this was some sort of ground breaking formula for success that they just came up with?

I don't think anyone ever said it was original for anything but the Zelda series.

More than a few reviewers said that it takes concepts that have worked before from open world games.

It doesn't exactly have anything in it that's "more" than other games though. In fact, it's pretty bare bones for an open world game. So what content does it exactly have "more" of than others? I'll admit it's a cleaner game, but it's not more than others

Apparently putting "Zelda" in the title turns an otherwise generic and empty game that's about as groundbreaking as Blackberry releasing its first Android phone in 2017 into a 10/10 blockbuster

I loved Breath of the Wild not for its content, but because of how fun it was to just explore. Link controlled wonderfully and I loved how there were no restrictions to go anywhere at all after getting the Paraglider.

If the game had more Zelda-like content and worthwhile sidequests, along with a different weapon system that didn't rely on replacing weapons constantly, it'd be much better.

I've been saying all this same shit since I cleared the game I don't remember how long ago.

I've been modded for it, I've been called a troll, a Playstation fanboy. And I'll say the same shit here that I said back then: How dare you attack the sacred cow.

Fans are worshipping this Zelda game like some absolute masterpiece, 10/10 perfect scores across the board, like it's the best game ever made. Some people have sunk more than 200 hours into it, collected every single Korok seed.

It's hardly even a Zelda game. You could take out every Zelda theme, leave it the exact same game and it would not have been received half as well. It's a solid 7/10. That's the highest score I can imagine awarding it considering the framerate drops, the weak story, the repetitive enemies and gameplay, the empty overworld (a few enemies, a few rocks and a few extremely tedious, repetitive puzzles =/= SO MUCH CONTENT WOW), the dull and uninteresting sidequests, the obnoxious respawning Yigas, the unnecessary weapon breaking mechanics, the irritating weather system, I could go on and on.

A good chunk of what the game did, it did well enough. A respectable first attempt from Nintendo. But it comes up short.

I'd say this as well even though I did spend so much time on it that I 100%'d it and want to do another playthrough (not 100% though) at some point. Give us a sequel built on BotW's foundations and give us something more substantial. They made the engine, I don't want to see it wasted.
