When is someone not a kid in your opinion? Reaching the age of majority isn't good enough for you? Being able to drink alcohol in the US legally isn't enough? It seems like these days you're either a kid or an old man.

It's especially frustrating when people say they expect you to behave and act like an adult (or chastise you for acting like a kid), then they turn around and say, "You're still just a kid." Just make up your minds already: are we adults or kids? Those are mutually exclusive terms.

It's not that a 23 year old isn't an adult. It's that saying "Well, I'm 23 so my tastes probably won't ever change because I'm an adult now" is a bit short-sighted. That's all. And it's pretty normal. And it's not a big deal.

And it's not like there's some magic number when you suddenly know everything. It's not even a matter of ignorance or anything like that. It's just that people can go through some fairly dramatic changes in their 20s due simply to life experience. Not everyone, but I'd argue a whole bunch.

I said it exactly how my folks said it to me when I was 23. Besides, using the qualifier practically showed I wasnt being dismissive or trolling.

I can kinda see where he's coming from. He didn't say "You're just a kid." By saying "practically" he was relating your age to his own (?) and remarking on how young you are and how early-on in life you still are.

He definitely could have been more clear, but sometimes (I think most of us are guilty of it) on the Internet it's easy to just fire off a quick post rather than taking the time to thoughtfully respond to someone. Even though his comment was in reference to you and your age I'm not even certain it was necessarily meant as a direct response to you. In a way, I think he was sort of just commenting into the void. That's a thing people tend to do online. The Internet is a powerful communication tool, but shitposting is a hobby for a lot of folks. Knee-jerk comments and responses are the bread and butter of online discussions. Not that it's a good thing, but it's hardly surprising.

In my dating experience of the past few years, I've realised that race and skin colour has absolutely no impact on the level of attraction I have for someone. Someone could be as pale as the snow, or dark as the night and it wouldn't bother me in any way whatsoever.

That's why I think it's mind boggling how some people only date a certain race. It's ignorant and would be considered racist if it wasn't such a common sentiment.
