Yep, ended up watching it a few hours ago. Thought it was super cool, especially seeing pink diamond. Also I never expected Lars to actually go and try to escape from gem world on his own, it was super cool to see him actually grow even more as a character, but still have a shred of his old self show through when he got upset by Sadie's happiness without him. Overall though, the jungle moon was really cool, and Emerald was a pretty fun new character, though I'm not sure how much more of her we will see

Well, we actually knew about Lars of the Stars since July or so, since the first couple minutes was shown back in San Diego Comic Con. As for Emerald, I've heard that it's been stated time and time again by the creators that SU has no one-off characters. Every character will be seen again at some point or another. I definitely agree that it was a nice touch not having him be totally changed, it made his character arc feel more realistic, since you don't change overnight, old habits will still break through. I imagine remembering how much he missed Sadie probably made his emotions more volatile.

I really enjoyed those too, they were really solid episodes. Oh, I was also a little surprised that this time they had Lars actually say that he died. They'd danced around it when it initially happened, with him saying 'not alive' instead of 'dead'.

Lol I don't watch previews ever, I'd rather enjoy the show when it actually airs, so I didn't know about any of those. If you imagine it from my point of view, it would be pretty surprising. And that's good to hear, with regards to the no one-off characters

I liked them, but they were also pretty disappointing. I wanted Captain Lars. That lasted all of 3 minutes.

I didn't care about anything that happened on the Jungle planet. Sure, first glimpse of Pink Diamond (who is apparently a spoiled toddler?), but I came for "Lars of the stars" and it was barely even a thing.

okay just watched it. agreed with Ryo, a focus more on lars would be cool. we only got like 3 minutes of him. at least we got a glimpse of pink diamond. i wonder why steven/rose share that connection?

As for the other thing rather than any special connection, it could easily just be Steven's dream powers doing stuff. I also wonder if the spoiled toddler thing was an exaggeration, due to how dreams distort things.

Pink Diamond's gem is shaped pretty different than Blue and Yellow's. Which aren't identical either. I'm wondering if White Diamond's gem is the same as Pink's but flipped upright instead of upside-down.

Oh god the first half dozen episodes are absolutely terrible. Soooo bad. But I was really glad when I pushed through them.

Part of it though is there's some issues balancing plot episodes and chill episodic episodes. When they do drop some good plot though. *-*

It's as annoying to have to say about a show as it probably is to hear, but it doesn't get good until later into the first season. If you'd give the show another shot, that'd be cool, but I don't expect people to stick through something they aren't feeling after giving it 4 or 5 episodes.

Yeah Gravity Falls is great.

I've actually just seen it along with Steven Universe, Regular Show, and Adventure Time throughout last year. Steven Universe has become one of my all time favorite shows. One of my friends who recommended it says I may even be a bigger fan than he is now. We watched through to S4E20 a few months back and I was hooked. The show is definitely hit or miss in the first 30 episodes or so. I actually hated Steven during those. It gets alot better and once the plot really takes shape it's very enjoyable.

What first piqued my interest and made it feel like it was worth it was Connie's introductory episode. And not even just because of Connie. But because I remembered seeing that bracelet in the freezer in the first episode, and wondering about it. Then here it was, several episodes later.

Then it just kept slowly getting better. Even with my already having a vague awareness of the big S1 season finale reveal, it was still a really enjoyable season finale.

And it's so nice to see that everyone's concerns of what might be poor character writing, wasn't. It was planned out, as revealed recently. Some people were saying Lapis was lacking some very important parts of resolution to her character arc. That the state it was in didn't make sense. But that was clearly very purposeful, so it would make sense that she would just get up and leave the moment things got rocky. And as discussed earlier in the topic, Lars's brief regression. People had concerns that he was evolving too fast. But nope! So that's been really satisfying.

Oh, yeah, go put together some time for binge watching. There's even been some episodes that weren't pure gem plot that I rather enjoyed. Plus some that totally are pure plot. Go go go! Then come back and theorize with us.
