If you have a lot of experience you're most likely very corrupt.

If you have some political experience, you'll just be a puppet of your party.

That leaves people with no political experience.

Who accordingly to the logic you are displaying, will also be a puppet for their party
IE: Trump

I understand the appeal. I don't even mind ignorance on policy, but imo you've got to demonstrate at least a willingness and desire to learn about it even if you are not from a political background

Well, it certainly worked in Trump's case...

On a more serious note, it just means they'll be outmanoeuvred by more seasoned political operators, especially those who probably *are* corrupt (and that's assuming those that are inexperienced aren't corrupt, which is dumb).

I'd personally love to see some STEM candidates. Ben Carson ended up being insane, but it was a start. In general, it wouldn't hurt to see how people trained in real-deal practical problem solving work through political issues.

people in STEM dont have enough of a reputation to overcome the corruption of the establishment.
You see what they did to Trump and Bernie. The only reason why Trump beat Hillary while Bernie couldnt was because people already knew who Trump was

See "Designated Survivor" for reasons why this would not worked.

The only reason it worked in the show was because the President was actually a decent human being who had the best interests of the country in mind and was willing to accept responsibility and learn from his mistakes. Realistically, that's not the kind of person we would elect and the person would be ran over by all the corruption in Washington (as he actually did the first couple of episodes).

For another more extreme example, (House of Cards spoiler) Peter, the only legitimate decent person in the show with a chance at election, was literally killed for his naivete.

It's true that celebrities would basically be the only people elected but I'd rather have a celebrity than a politician any day.

Also there are many celebrities who have practical experience at leading.
