I was not, but I'm betting people would make a gimmick out of me should I constantly spam about my depression day in and day out. Replace depression with dating troubles, or court issues, it doesn't matter. Dawkins put himself in his own situation, and the trolls jumped on the bandwagon that Dawkins built for them. It doesn't make what the trolls do "right", but it doesn't mean Dawkins is in the right either.

Regarding the trolls and stalkers: It goes without saying but those people get off on this kind of stuff, and we all know this. You can only ignore them and move on. I got stalked on the Smash Bros Brawl boards back in the day by people that beat me in 1v1s. You slap them to the ignore list and you move on with life. Let their unheard cries do just that, go unheard. Threatening legal action because some guy on a video game message board slandered you is laughable at best.

There are some very real great things happening here (e.g. the steam gift topic every year), but all in all, for anyone, I don't think this place should be a "safety net" for anybody visiting.

I'm not one to say your posts on CE say anything about your personality IRL, but this kind of concerted effort to continually harass a vulnerable person, going so far as to compile information on them and continue to harass them off of gamefaqs? But back on topic, I TOTALLY agree. When I meet vulnerable people, I'm as nice to them as possible and wouldn't ever dream of being rude to them, no matter how difficult it may be to get along with them sometimes. My father taught me that the greatest indication of a man's personality is how he treats those that are weaker than them, mentally or physically. I think that we are pretty good people.

Unfortunately, that's the nature of a social disorder which causes the person to antagonize others. The fact that it so often encourages that kind of backlash from those around him is the very reason that it's a social disorder in the first place.

The reason he posted about the medication he was taking before is because he was trying to explain to people on GameFAQs that he has some issues that he is trying to work out. Despite Hoth having been a minor at the time of that posts, that didn't stop depraved people in their mid-20's+ from launching a harassment campaign against him.

I'd like to know more if you have some data on how moderations work and how many suspensions are downgraded to warnings. Because I agree with Franklin based on my own experience and observations, but if you have some facts that contradict those I'd like to know about them. Right now the moderation system appears to be completely disorganized and largely based on mod discretion which is incredibly inconsistent and even seemingly biased.

Plus the way they'll hold off on moderating messages until they can nail you with a few all at once is an insanely stupid way of handling things. Especially with how many mods have been proven to target posters they disagree with.

You're missing the point. You are believing Dawkins is in the right in his arguments and situations and then claiming after that axiom that people are harassing him. It's the opposite. Dawkins has situations where he is very clearly in the wrong, and people are attempting to tell him he is in the wrong. Some less courteous than others, but ultimately the same message.

In Dawkins' mind, he is never wrong.
