For those of you that have jobs and go to work, are you working the whole time you're there? Like from beginning to end(excluding lunch and any required breaks you may or may not get).

I freeze a lot as I get horrible flashbacks from the wreck or hauntingly beautiful thoughts about my wfe about once every few hours. Sometimes I go the bathroom. Sometimes I talk to a co-worker, but that almost always happens *while* working.

My job mandates a single paid 15 minute break if I'm working 6-8 hours, or a paid 10 minute break if I'm working less than 6. Every other job I've ever had only gave me a 1hr unpaid lunch. I actually prefer the way it is with my current job because I can just get all my hours out of the way and go the fuck home, rather than having to spend an hour dicking around halfway through my shift.

I work outdoors so there's a lot of downtime (~2 hours) in the mornings right now because of the season. There's also at least an hour of downtime in the evenings because reports must be run to analyze everybody's work for the day, and that's really only work for one.

1 hour break throughout 8h day, maybe 3 or 4 hours of actual work rest is dick around time. (Though it depends on your work speed). If you take it slow you can spread it throughout the whole shift, or do it quickly and have downtime.

Every white collar job I've worked I've wound up going on Gamefaqs for parts of the day. The only times when I did nothing but work were maybe a few retailers when I didn't really have option to do much else. Usually I try to go as long as possible in the day before checking the boards or social media or something else.

I get paid for 8 hours. I work for about 9 and a half. It literally took me a hurricane to have some time to get on GFaqs at work.

At the nursing homes I've worked at, I've always been busy the entire shift. Stuff would commonly get cut out and other things prioritized due to lack of time, or I would have to stay over every day for hours. Corners that were cut were never to put a patient at harm. Usually it was paperwork that got the shaft.
Home health has been much more laid back, often times I am sitting down with nothing to do for several hours. Needless to say I don't work at nursing homes anymore. The slightly increased pay I would get is not worth it by a long shot, especially as a single guy with no dependents.

Manage a seasonal restaurant. It's very quite in winter. Spend most of my time chatting with customers and when we're empty (which is often) I play around on my phone and smoke a lot of cigarettes.

Roughly a six hour shift and I probably spend two of them on Facebook or GameFAQs.

I work the most, get treated the worst. Constantly hounded by a wench with OCD, distracting me from my work at all times. All my coworkers blow their money on lottery tickets or scrambling to pay off their debt. They think because they've been working longer they have the right to stand around and chat while I struggle to get done on time.

8.5 hours of frantic stress daily, two 15 minute breaks, constant standing and speed-walking around. I feel like I'm in a boot camp.

My rostered shifts are 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday. I generally arrive earlier and start working around 8 to 8:30am. Sometimes I finish on time but more often than not I finish a bit later anywhere from 5.30 to 7pm.

My extra hours are paid and are paid correctly at overtime rates, so that's good.

I get one hour break but half of it is paid.

I also get one free paid day off a month.

This is better than the garbage I used to see in retail so I ain't even mad.

Depends. There are days wherein it's so busy you'd neglect bathroom breaks. Others, you're just relaxed as it's a slow day.
