My family lives on humor and we always keep our heads high. I'm not mad or anything. Almost there. We pray to God someone makes it there to be with her at least. When we got note, the doctor was the only one there. We just want someone, anyone of us there for her. I am hoping my uncle is there right now, but we are close.

It's about 20...25 minutes.

She's so damn strong.

We left at about an hour ago. She's still there. When we got there, they said it could be an hour, or it could be a few more days, but she's shutting down.

She has enough strength to scratch her own head. She even laughed when my uncle joked to her. She cried a few times as if she knows what is happening and does not want to go. I personally see her lasting the rest of the night and possibly going sometime tomorrow. Two of my uncles are with her for the night.

I have hardly teared up at all there but the moment we lose her, the tears won't stop. I am strong always until the last breath, then I am a complete crybaby.

I'm glad you're going to see her.

I wasn't there when my grand parents died and as I got older I took them being around for granted and barely visited at all, one day I just didn't have any left.

I need to go into Boston tomorrow. It's one of those "FML" situations.

There's a workshop that will help me learn photoshop, which is something I've wanted forever and waited for for months and months to appear on the schedule. It's from 11-1. I plan to go home right after this is over. I kissed her. I hugged her. I held her hand. I still love her and would love to see her one more time breathing, but I know it's at a point she's not in a good place.

If she is still with us when I return, I will see her again. If not, I am happy to say I spent all day with her and I think we as a family, are very happy with that result. I just really hope it doesn't happen when I am there.... but I cannot miss this.

So I am over my brother's now. The funeral home took her. All of us as a family.... uncles, aunt, cousins, all went out for breakfast and planned out somewhat what we want to do.

I am happy that it was my uncle who was mostly caring for her who she died in the arms of. We all agreed he should have been the one there when she did, so we all are happy with the result. She passed at 4:28 this morning. Many people seem to want to be alone sometimes, but my uncle really wants us to come up to the house tonight, clearly to fill the void since he doesn't want to be alone.

I'm just saddened though that all the other women in that facility seemed to never have family around. We had people there around the clock. Even the staff were amazed by the family dedication in comparison to other families.

The greatest thing was this woman who roomed with my grandmother. She would protect her. If any of the other patients came in, she'd yell "GET OUT, She's sleeping!" ..... She would come over to her bed to check on us..... she offered us gingerbread cookies and actually had a "Stop" sign at the room's door she'd put up if she didn't want anyone bothering my grandmother. My uncle would, with the nurse's okay, give the woman a chocolate as a thank you for watching her. Now that my grandmother passed, my uncle wants to continue stopping by with candy for the lady here and there.

I might fight with my family here and there but ya know, it's amazing we can still stick together. We constantly fight among one another and my grandmother was what I believe, possibly the last elastic band to the bundle. I don't know what will happen to the family after the funeral, but I just see us breaking away from each other. I still really don't want anything to do with my aunt and a few others, but we will see.

It's been such an incredible ride. "I feel like I died because such an enormous amount of weight has been lifted off of me and I feel like I could fly" as my uncle said when we left. I can only imagine.

Thank you everyone for the well wishes. While this is a "To CE!" thing, I typed that en route for something to come back to. Sometimes, it's good to have.

If I may ask, if someone's kidney fails, aren't they supposed to put her on a dialysis machine?

I'm really sorry, Say. If you need to talk about anything, I'm open. Your grandmother sounds like she was a wonderful person, and I'm glad she was surrounded by people who loved her so much.

Your uncle sounds like a good man, as well, visiting with your grandmother's roommate, especially during this painful time.

I'm not in the medical field, but she's been overly deteriorating for a while with the dementia. Brain, heart, everything was shutting down. It was kind of to the point it really didn't even matter.

We did. The uncle with her would always do that and did even when she passed. He was like "Go in there and smell her ears. They smell like strawberries!" ..... He kept good spirits with it the whole time. Phones were off, yes. I left my tablet outside in the car.

I appreciate it Lea. She really was. She gave me so many fond memories. I am so happy I had her draw me a picture before the dementia got too too bad.

And yeah. They shared the same room, so it wasn't hard for him to do. I just hope her family visits her often too. I know her husband fell during a visit and is now in rehab himself too, so they can't even see each other now. I feel so bad for her.

@Everyone else: Thank you.
