It could refer to any church that believes in the Trinity, or it term itself could have a specific meaning previously explained by the text). I feel the rest of this paragraph is pretty direct so Im moving on to paraphrase the next paragraph. The author substitutes ambassadors for troubadours in that saying presumably because the previous word is too distant and sterile to convey the implicit passion of the Christian mystics and the emotion of their numerous aphorisms, sayings, poems, etc. Apparently these materials have never been so available to people. The author concludes by asking us to recount some of the main themes present in the literary work of the Christian mystics. Clearly the author themselves is similarly taken with the works of these mystics, and waxes wordily and effusively over them in the expectation that the reader, you, will do the same. --- Whatever happened to standards?
