Been looking for a new living room set for a long time.

Ashley seems ok but limited in selection. They had a few things close to what I wanted but none was quite right.

Mor is straight garbage and a bit cheaper than Ashley.

Bassett is ok, looks to be roughly Ashley quality, maybe a bit higher. But about 50% more money, but 100% customizable.

Dania looks to be between Ashley and Bassett in price and quality. Bit closer to Bassett in price.

Anyone know places that are sort competitors to Ashley? They seem to be the price/quality I want to pay for but I want other options that may have slightly different stuff.

Cost Plus World Market seems like it may have some interesting stuff but haven't checked them out in person yet.

Crate and Barrel is Bassett price range but looks to be lower quality.

@Asherlee10 since you said you worked at Ashley before.

IKEA. No joke. IKEA furniture is either 100% solid and worthy, or completely shaky and break after one move. You have to look at the furniture carefully and decide. For example, their BILLY bookshelves and LACK tables are indestructible.

Aside from IKEA, I advise going to a local furniture outlet or asking a friend for second hand furniture. If you must go retail, check out any of them; they will all screw you over. Note that furniture is 100% negotiable at these stores.

I don't have any around me so our choices have always been mom and pop type places or at best Pier 1 if you have money to throw away.

Before I went anywhere I was thinking $3-5k for sofa, love seat, chair, ottoman, maybe coffee table. Ashley had a sofa, love seat, chair, ottoman, coffee table, pair of end tables and maybe a lamp or something, originally $2300 but they got down $1800 right away.

but that came in 1 color only, alabaster. So I was wondering if I could get what I needed for around that price if there are good comparable to Ashley.

They are usually sourced from Ashley. It's their cheaper series.

Okay, the reason is known, then.

Yeah that's going to be tough to beat. You might can try some other locations to see if they have it in another color. Is the series discontinued?

that line only comes in 1 color. not sure if its being discontinued or not, I didn't ask.

https://www.ashleyfurniturehomestore.com/p/pierin-sofa/8250038.html#q=pierin&lang=default&start=1

that's the sofa of the line.

the reviews made me a bit nervous, 11 5 star or 4 star, 8 1 star or 2 star.

durability is my number 1 concern, I keep furniture for 10+ years.

then design, then color, then price.

that sofa was the nicest upholstered piece they had that wasn't like old school traditional looking. im surprised that like everything is leather. It seems like Ashley was 80% leather / 20% upholstery. And I am over leather.

really they only had 2 collections that were at all close to what I was looking at. the other one was a bit cheaper but the back cushions were removable and the seat cushions didn't feel as durable.

Anyone ever bought furniture at a consignment store? Do they negotiate the same as other furniture places? Seems like it may be a bit more firmly priced there.
