To be fair, the old nickname for the History Channel was "The Hitler Channel" due to how many documentaries on Hitler, the Nazis, and WW2 they would air.

Seriously. American Pickers is one of the worst shows with two of the most insufferable assholes in television. I met the lanky front runner of that show and he said fuck every other word. Nah. They've just gotten a bunch of reality shows that are cheap to make, and be rerun indefinitely. Just like pretty much any other cable channel anymore.

Reality shows are easily the most cost-effective TV for mid-range networks like History Channel to air. Low production costs, typically little/no cost for talent, no royalties, and they can be aired indefinitely.
